David Beckham
Beckham’s charity excuse was rubbish
Footballers who don’t hate worthy causes manage to attend
Last night’s huge Cystic Fibrosis charity event at the Dorchester Hotel brought out plenty of stars from the world of football including John Terry, Peter Crouch, Emmanuel Adebayor, William Gallas, Gael Clichy, SWP, Wayne Bridge, David Dein, Arsene Wenger and Alan Sugar.
So where was Beckham? In the end, he snubbed the glitzy do, claiming he was summoned back to Americaland for LA Galaxy training. Which actually doesn’t begin until Monday. Poor form, Becks.

Pretty poor show by Becks considering he has been jetting off all over the place and had actually agreed to take Thierry’s place.

Seems reasonable given that he would need to get over his jetlag in order to train on Monday.

So why wasn’t Thierry there, Sue ?

I think somebody needs to check their facts. Beckham has to report for training on Saturday. People need to look at his commitment to children’s charities and Academy before they jump on ‘tabloid’ stories. He was only in Sierra Leone last week, not a holiday by any standards!

am with you on that Ali, some people fail to understand that even if he had turned up at the event last night, the whole call up thing would have over shadowed why they were there in the first place and that would have been worse

Oh my, what a sad website

The reason why Thierry Henry was uanble to attend was simply because of his involvement in Barcelona’s quarter-final match in the Copa del Rey against Villarreal. Thierry actually got the winner for Barcelona giving them a 1-0 aggregate victory over ten-man Villarreal.

Apologies for plucking Monday out of the air as the Galaxy’s training start date, I just went with what it said in this morning’s papers and the official LA Galaxy website.
I know Beckham is one of the most public spirited footballers out there, but this makes his no-show decision last night all the more disappointing.
