Football’s finest minds decide to state the obvious
With 24 hours to go until their fifth round tie, and decades and decades of football experience, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have the kind of keen insightful knowledge that only the good Lord can provide. Their earth shattering prediction for the weekend’s corker: Adebayor and Ronaldo will be dangerous.
Such educated insights come direct from the same stable of football sound-bites that spawned McClaren insisting that he just asks his players to “do what they do, week in, week out”, and inspired Alan Shearer to prophesise that all players just need someone to “put an arm round them”, and then they will score.
Such anodyne mumblings are not what we have come to expect from such great professors of the game.
Still, they’ve got a point.
What’s that McClaren? Ronaldo should just do what he does, week in, week out? Oh do shut up.

Adebayor probably won’t even start – maybe second half but that’s it. Arsenal stand no chance – they’ve only got 14 players fit and both sagna and clichy are out. The last time Traore, Hoyte and Gilberto were called in to action arsenal lost 5-1. This one smells of 4-1 to United – but weirdly no-one really cares
