Manager Speak

Do you know what Arsene Wenger is talking about?

Arsenal boss uses puzzling syntax to defend Diaby

Diaby

In his post-game email this week, Arsene Wenger tried to defend Abou Diaby’s thoroughly dangerous challenge and subsequent sending off by describing the incident as a ‘protective tackle’. What does that mean? Is it like a defensive strike on goal or an attacking penalty save?

Anyone got any ideas?

I don’t understand the article, he meant that it wasn’t an aggressive tackle but it deserved a red card.

  • Red Devil // March 31, 2008 at 3:58 pm

Wasn’t this the idiot screaming a few weeks ago about Taylor getting a life ban!!!!

  • Red Devil // March 31, 2008 at 4:02 pm

Yet when one of his players do the same he makes excuses.

Wenger is a disgrace to football.

  • Johnson // March 31, 2008 at 4:06 pm

“Red Devil”, I hope you are kidding. Who is the one who always when his team looses complains to the referee and blames him? And Wenger came back and said he shouldn’t have said that about Taylor.

  • bollox // March 31, 2008 at 4:10 pm

Actually he said he had no complaints about the sending off and agreed with it.

  • Red Devil // March 31, 2008 at 4:12 pm

Johnson, go back and read as many headlines as you like for the sorest losers in the prem. Its well documented.

For a clever man, your manager is an idiot.

  • Comeback Kings // March 31, 2008 at 4:15 pm

I think he was trying to suggest the opposit of aggresive but didnt really make sense. It was a stupid tackle no doubt but only an idiot would compare it to Taylors tackle. Taylor started at the knee and finished at edurdos ankle. Diaby deserved red and thankfully the player wasn’t hurt but there’s no way it would have ever caused a double compound leg break and broken ankle as suffered by eduardo.
At least Arsenal fans and AW can admit it was a red. McLeish and Bruce went as far as to suggest Taylors tackle was only a yellow card. Now those are the ridiculous comments, not wengers!

  • Comeback Kings // March 31, 2008 at 4:21 pm

Red Devil, maybe you just caught the half time score and switched off. We came back and one 3-2 away with 10 men. What do we have to be sore losers about?? I’m feeling pretty fucking happy. Typical United insult that reeks of hypocrisy. Dont listen to fergusons after match interviews no??

  • Red Devil // March 31, 2008 at 4:27 pm

comeback king, in case you weren’t taking notice you were 2-0 down to bolton who are struggling to stay in the premiership. If thats what makes you happy then good on you.

personally watching you bunch of pretenders win nothing again makes me happy.

Watch and learn, we’ll show you how a back-to-back is done…..again

  • Johnson // March 31, 2008 at 4:39 pm

Why are you so bitter “Red Devil”? Come on, just enjoy that you will win the League.

  • wicked goona // March 31, 2008 at 4:42 pm

red devil, you can scan all the headlines u want .. and dig up as much xenophobic articles against arsenal and wenger as you like .. but make sure you include non-english articles. The plight of arsenal in england is well known throughout europe ..

Everyone knows in europe that arsenal and their manager are disgracefully victimised .. by the refs, the FA, and the football press .. england cannot quite get over a successful french manager, playing mostly non-english players ..

on the tackle itself, I think what wenger meant was that he was trying to defend the ball .. simple, if you have no xenophobic agenda .. defensive tackle: a tackle to defend made in defence .. dont forget english is not his first language. Why not go trawlm through all his comments and pronouncements and pick through his lingo .. useless xenophobic pricks ..

On my part, I think he desreved a red card, but can understand his justification after being badged around repeatedly with the ref failing to protect him .. why not comment on that, you morons .. why not comment on the disgraceful refereeing in this country …

refs have cost arsenal at least 10-12 points this season .. and have contributed to at least 6-10 points for manu .. that is disgraceful, and it doesnt get commented on .. rather u want to pick through everything wenger says .. tossers !!!

  • manuelj // March 31, 2008 at 4:43 pm

REDDEVIL try back to back with the same money wenger spend and see if you lot will not be relegated just imagine a cap is put on how much a team spend in a season lets say 10million…… yeah though so

  • Comeback Kings // March 31, 2008 at 4:45 pm

Fucking United fans! You aint won the league yet. Still have to go to chelsea and we do alright at old trafford when we need to. Its no wonder everyone hates united with the bunch of knobs that support them.

  • wicked goona // March 31, 2008 at 4:46 pm

johnson, good question .. why is this moron so bothered ? Afterall, in yet another year, the title has been handed again to manu .. by the refs who kill off the opposition.

but no, he is frothing on the mouth over an innocous comment wenger made .. thats his xenophobia showing .. same for most of the football ‘journalists’ in england .. probably including the guy who started this thread.

  • Johnson // March 31, 2008 at 4:49 pm

Yes I agree “wicked goona”, some referees hate Arsenal and have cost them points.

  • wicked goona // March 31, 2008 at 4:53 pm

comeback king, come off it .. they have won it alright .. but not by their own merit .. we all know that. I bet you the flamster will be sent off when we go to old trafford, just like mikel obi and mascherano (ludicrous, right ?) ..

just sit back and enjoy what will happen at stamford bridge .. of course they will win there .. the refs know chelsea and us are too close, so they will take no chances .. they will keep getting dangerous free-kicks, a penalty or two, opposition being sent off, etc .. until they win.

this is england, manu country …

  • UPYOURARSEnal // March 31, 2008 at 5:29 pm

RED DEVIL you mug. How can a man with such integrity be a disgrace. What about fergee sending his team out to kick Arsenal because they were better than them at the time, or telling Arsene to go back to Japan or slagging off refs or refusing to comment on the BBC. I bet your one of them man u fans that hasn’t even been to Trafford. I wont comment on the tackle as it would be like trying to discuss the big bang theory with a kid. I will say that Arsene has helped other teams find players, let Arsenal players stay out on loan while we are short to honor a contract he might not be tactically the top dog but there is no more prestigious gentleman in sport the man is as intelligent as any man in sport any where, this is why people find him difficult they simply don’t understand him. Idiot Northerner stop using our taxes to raise your kids.

  • Wrighty // March 31, 2008 at 5:31 pm

It never ceases to amaze me how fucking thick United fans are.

  • Ambrose van Persie // March 31, 2008 at 5:36 pm

Dont worry most of these cunts are from outta mongolia anyway

  • wicked goona // March 31, 2008 at 5:44 pm

Wenger is a man of great integrity .. that is obvious. Thats what makes incessant attacks on him so blatantly obvious as pure race hatred to anyone outside of England.

It takes great integrity, courage and discipline to remain so when every word he utters is twisted and subjected to microscopic analysis by the english press. The unfairness is mind boggling. Despite the obvious unfairness by the BBC and Sky, he still dutifully talks to them .. which is more than can be said by that corrupt thug, (not sir) fergie. Yeah, I said corrupt becuase I don’t think that referee bias in favour of manu for 2 decades is just from refs being in love with manu. His former charge at birmingham has copied his methods .. hence the current refs’ efforts to save them from relegation.

  • papayaro // March 31, 2008 at 7:27 pm

Fergee is the most dirty manager on earth. He cheat, he lies, his players kick and dive, he influence the refees. He is alway suspicious, he probably cannot sleep well at night. LOL

  • Dothemath // March 31, 2008 at 7:32 pm

refs have cost arsenal “10-12 points” and given Uited “6-10″. What are you talking about WICKEDGOONA? You sound like some paranoid Newcastle fan.
Arsenal were robbed at Birmingham with 10 men and Chelsea through bad offside decisions- but if you are referring to Adebayor’s onside goal it was to tough to see, Aliadiere was onside and when you start complaining about points dropped to Boro through a single decision you are clutching at straws. I cant remember what points United have gained from referring decisions but I can remember then tearing teams to pieces and winning 1-0 or 4-0, who cares. They have mounted a better campaign this year, have a better squad and deserve to win it.

  • Manu // March 31, 2008 at 7:46 pm

Man United fan claims that using the media as a source of reliable research is the way forward??! Would this be the same media that includes toilet publications such as The Sun and Daily Fail? The one controlled by ManYoo fan Rupert Murdoch?

Wenger is a great man and Ferguson is an uncouth bully, with no grace, no tact and a vile repugnant cheat. He has the audacity to complain about referees on the odd chances they decided to actually apply the rules to United. What a graceless bunch of fans. Keep the league title, it is a triumph for the Refs who handed it to you as usual, and to the xenophobic media.

As someone said expand your horizons. Outside England it is well-known that Arsenal are victimized by a jealous and envious English media who foist their inferiority complexes about having such a rubbish national team.

Ferguson has achieved what he has with far more cash than Wenger ever had. The sheer hypocrisy and double-standards of the myopic and bitter British press is hilarious. This article is a perfect example.

If instead of deriding the man, these one-eyed jingoistic comedians in the British press continue to preach. However, look at the behaviour of thugs like Terry, look at Lampard, look at Rio Ferdinand, Joey Barton, Anton Ferdinand, Cashley Cole etc. English players are a Disgrace and are so incompetent they could not qualify for Euro 2008.

But the British press continues this obsession with deriding a Frenchman far more gifted and far more talented than any English manager you care to name. His players are more talented than any English players you care to name, you don’t see them brawling in nightclubs or tarting about with WAGS and most of them were able to qualify their countries for Euro 2008.

Man United fans are not to be taken seriously. Most of them are from Singapore or Malaysia anyhow. The referees and their cash buy them titles. Simple.

No wonder England are such a global joke. Perhaps the say they can qualify for a major tournament, the preaching of the English press might actually mean something….

  • Manu // March 31, 2008 at 7:55 pm

Ferguson is a known Liar, a cuntish bully and a graceless, classless sore Loser. Everybody in Europe knows this – apart from the British press of course. I do love the obsession with Arsene.

Does anyone seriously think that if for a second, Arsene Wenger was a crap, unsuccessful manager, the media in this country would be so obsessed with deriding him? I cannot ever remember Alain Perrin getting such treatment when he was in charge of Portsmouth?

Aaaaah…because he was a bit crap! So then the English media will love you if you’re a bit rub and make shocking English managers look good. Wenger induces the hatred because he’s very successful. And the English media and footballing establishment do not understand footballing success.

42 years of looking like a global joke. The media talk all high and mighty and forget England have been unable to make ONE major final in 42 years. The whole world laughs at England – whilst England obsesses over a manager more successful than any of them could ever be!

The funnier part is that the media and FA continue to have it in for Wenger: but how many times have they tried ot get this Frenchman in charge of England? 3, 4 times? And he’s knocked them back each and every time!!! Funny that. Such an evil man….yet…how desperately England have tried to recruit him.

I am an Englishman. Just not a blind Sun-reading moron. I can see Wneger is a Class act. I can sense the seething jealousy as his native France, to whom he has contributed so many quality players (Henry, Pires, Vieira, Petit etc) have come from nowhere and won a World Cup, made a World Cup final, won a European championship after the WC…Whilst England have been going from comedy to farce and looking more rubbish with each passing tournament.

No wonder you get pathetic one-eyed dross lke this article. Wenger CLEARLY stated it was a deserved red card. Even the numpties on MOTD could see that. But of course, you get idiots who will try to obsessively see something into nothing. Trying to cast aspersions on a man infinitely more successful and gifted than any of these pathetic scribes.

the same bolton that beat maure this year you manure cunt

  • COMEonUNITED!!! // March 31, 2008 at 10:32 pm

I’ve been saying for months now, that United and Arsenal (who, by the way, are the 2 best footballing teams in England), shouldn’t worry about each other. They should worry about Chelsea, who are still the best at winning UGLY! By God they play dull, boring crap, but they keep winning. I obviously want United to win the league, but if we don’t, I’d rather Arsenal win it. At least they play good football, unlike Chelsea and LiverPoo!

  • Bee // April 1, 2008 at 12:44 am

Lol, paranoid Arsenal fans already feeling sorry for themselves…go cry in a corner, who gives a rats ass if you’re being victimized in Europe. Anyone who says Wenger is a crap manager is obviously being stupid but its just amazing seeing some hare brainer Arse fan calling Ferguson a liar. Arsene has the money but doesn’t spend it, whose fault is that?, the other coaches have money and spend it on experienced people while Wenger believes in his half witted child prodigy nonsense. You can keep your title of most entertaining football or whatever you Arse fans tell yourselves to make yourself feel better about your scarce trophy case while the other teams go ahead, spend money wisely and win trophies. keep making the excuses saying the refs help Utd and other people buy the trophy, it won’t get you anywhere, but thats one thing i love about Arsenal fans, losing is never straight forward with them, oh no….there’s always an excuse, bad pitch, younger squad, media victimization. you guys should really write a book. To the person talking about Xenophobia: you say “Utd fans are mostly from Malaysia and Singapore, so why should be care what they say” and you accuse someone else of xenophobia…nice

To comment on the article, we should be happy Wenger actually saw the tackle this time, afterall does he ever see anything that his players do wrong??? Just like he never saw the Adeabyoir, Bendtner boxing match or Gallas’s and Eboue’s tackle on Nani and Evra respectively but yet he saw Nani showboating but not what happened after(selective myopia). To the Arsenal fans, keep feeling sorry for yourselves, you’ll probably win the “Our team costs less than the others trophy or the 2 good 2 spend money trophy”, thats gotta be worth something in the minds of the “victimized Arsenal fans”

  • RedbyDawn // April 1, 2008 at 1:17 am

He’s struggling with honesty, as the concept has been alien to his mindset for the past decade or so.

  • COMEonUNITED!!! // April 1, 2008 at 11:50 am

And to all those calling Sir Alex a liar, do you honestly think that Wenger is telling the truth when he says “I didn’t see it”, everytime something happens that he doesn’t like?

  • RedbyDawn // April 2, 2008 at 12:21 am

He’s too busy looking for young boys THE DIRTY BASTARD!!!
