Why didn’t Theo Walcott start against Liverpool?

Young England star deserved a greater role last night

In the all-English Champions League tie, just two English players started the game (Carragher and Gerard). When Theo Walcott came on in the second half, the game completely changed, and the Arsenal fans’ attitude towards Eboue was somewhat vitriolic throughout.

I know it’s a sin to question Arsene Wenger’s gigantic brain, but why isn’t Theo being given a better chance? What chance does he have to become an integral part of the England team if he only plays the role of a ‘super sub’ in his domestic side?

eboue is no winger good right back ! terrible going forward why does wenger reward mediocre perfomances with a long run in the team ?

    Grow up mate.

Theo didn’t start because his defensive play is not that good even though his attacking play is better than Eboue’s.

Walcott didn’t start because he hadn’t finished his homework

It doesnt matter about England, Its all about Arsenal. We have no business planning for the England team. Theo was too inexperienced to start and lacks in defensive technique.

    It’s all a myth that Theo doesn’t track back…

Eboue doesn’t track back at all!! At least Theo comes back to defend!!

Eboue’s first instinct is to pass backwards. He seldom beats his man and he cant cross – pretty useless for a winger. Sagna has been making him look good all season by overlapping. Toure can’t do that so last night Eboue’s limitations were badly exposed. I thought Eboue was being used for cover but that’s even rubbished now as Walcott’s superior attacking ability is a better defensive strategy than using Eboue as evidenced throughout the second half. Eboue is a replacement rightback and that;s where he should stay. Wenger’s experiment with him has failed. What happened to ‘playing without fear’ Mr Wenger

Simple answer: because he is English

Out of the 22 players who started the match last night only 2 were english- Gerrard and Carragher. These are two teams in England and that is a disgrace
