A thoroughly trustworthy friend of The Spoiler has sent us a tale concerning David Bentley’s unorthodox departure from Arsenal:
When Bentley was at Arsenal, he kept putting in transfer requests which were rejected. He went on loan at Norwich, came back, and the same thing happened again.
By the summer of 2005, he was completely fed up, so had some special boots made. On one was written “English and proud,” and the other, “So I’m never picked.” The next morning at training, he called Arsene Wenger over and showed him.
The next day he was moved on to Blackburn.

Wenger has said that we have 2 English players in our academies that will be the fulcrum of the England 2018 world cup team. His comments were they have nothing ot learn technicley only their physical development must catch up.

All the players you list are reserves who have played when others are injured. Bentley would not get a place in front of a fit Rosiky, Fabregas, Flamini or Hleb and he thinks too much of himself to be a reserve. Thats why he left he knew that he was not as good as Freddie, Viera, Bergkamp and Pires and wasnt patient enough or doesnt have as much self belief as he would have us think he has, so wouldnt wait for a chance.

Bentley would’ve been right at home at Highbury 10 to 15 years ago.
Right now I’d swap 3 of Wenger’s talented, young midfield/attackers for one decent centre back.
Wenger’s become a French Kevin Keegan. We need a bit of George Graham to go with the flair.
You need to be solid at the back to win things like United and Chelsea.
A second rate team like Liverpool do better than us because they have some idea how to defend.

This is why Sol campbell was shipped so that place could be made for Walcott.I never rated Wenger and dumb Arsenal supporters always seem to paper over the cracks so that they can embrace the foreign legion policy adopted. we ahve already negated the effect of blatter by siging the non eu foriegners early and getting them to come trhu our academies.
besides the EU have told blatter that his laws would contravene EU employment laws and would not be changed just for football.

Message to the cockend gooner: Theo Walcott has hardly broken into your first team despite being one of the only plus points in what has been yet another trophyless season and secondly after being given a fair chance at Blackburn, Bentley now looks to be one of the best midfielders in the prem and if it wasnt for his nationality, would probably be Arsenals best player by now!!!!!

Bentley left coz he demanded first team after only playing a handfull of games. at the time we had pires and ljungberg before injuries started to get the better of them. wenger couldnt promise him first team football so he left. nothing to do with wenger not recognising his talent. so get your facts right before you go shooting your mouth off, your manager sold your best ever defender because of a friggin autobiography!
