Greedy Guts

Flamini’s unbearable run of luck continues

What’s it like being a cursed Frenchman?

flamini.jpg

Whatever metaphorical rollercoaster Mathieu Flamini thought it worth boarding a few weeks ago, it was a very misjudged move, and has now crashed. Today he was cut from France’s final Euro 2008 squad.

At the beginning of the season he was considered a hyperactive midfielder with a good engine but little in the way of genuine flair, yet by the season’s close he was revered as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. The future looked great.

Then he decided that he should probably take a big sum of money and head off to AC Milan, just in time for them to crumple downwards in the direction of UEFA Cup football. And now, to the embarrassment of not only himself but Arsene Wenger too, Flamini will spend the summer twindling his thumbs and gearing up for a UEFA Cup campaign, while Lassana Diarra – sold by Wenger because he couldn’t force Flamini out of the side – will be at the centre of France’s bid for Euro glory.

Did Flamini sell his soul to Satan by accident?

He sold his heart to Money.. Not Satan

serves the git right, hopefully he’ll break his leg too, that or gatusso stays and keeps him out the side, or they can play him at left back. just as long as he’s unhappy and regrets his life. i’m not at all bitter. look at his awful mole

  • james // May 28, 2008 at 4:27 pm

and he has eyebrows like groucho marx

  • ian // May 28, 2008 at 4:33 pm

I, for one, am sorry that he didn’t make the final cut. As much as I hated to see him leave Arsenal, at the end of the day how can you hate someone for taking an opportunity to join one of the top 3 clubs in the world and triple his salary at the same time?

  • Donjohnni // May 28, 2008 at 4:37 pm

Er… yeah, Flamini’s life must be in turmoil. How cruel to earn £100,000 a week. He must be so depressed!

  • PG // May 28, 2008 at 5:02 pm

Raymond Domenech is a clueless coach who despite having one of the most talented teams, can do no miracles. He left Pires out for so long and also cold shouldered Anelka. He is now doing the same to Flamini. He wants yes men around him and who better than spineless, toothless Diarra ?

  • PatGunner // May 28, 2008 at 5:13 pm

One of the tope 3 teams in the world wouldnt be playing in the UEFA cup. Its about time people deal with the present and not past tense. AC Milan is not a better team than Arsenal.

  • gunner4life // May 28, 2008 at 5:56 pm

True Patgunner, who said AC Milan was a top 3 side…what a joke….

  • ian // May 28, 2008 at 6:22 pm

If you took a poll among fans across the globe asking them to name the top 3 club teams in the world, AC Milan will be on the short list, as will – as much as it pains me to say it – Real Madrid and Man Utd. Presently we are a better team than AC Milan but you cannot ignore AC Milan’s rich tradition and global fan base. It’s these factors that enable them to attract the best players and to pay them top wages. This will be a rebuilding year for them but it will only be a year or two before they’re back in in the Champion’s League.

AC Milan is, sadly, a bigger club that Arsenal is. There is a reason why they say that form is temporary and class is permanent. On current form, Arsenal may be better than AC Milan. Hell, Arsenal beat Milan in the CL last year and you didn’t hear anyone saying that Arsenal is a bigger club than Madrid. The man went to a bigger club to earn better wages and whoever feels sorry for him should feel sorry for themselves first.

  • liam // May 28, 2008 at 7:17 pm

    peter your a dick!!!!!!

  • PatGunner // May 28, 2008 at 7:22 pm

I cant argue that Milan had a richer history and tradition, there is no questioning that. However, there is no way Milan are closer to winning a trophy than we are. He left for the money, plain and simple. There’s no shame in that, just dont lie about it.

  • mjj // May 28, 2008 at 9:22 pm

I’m fedup with your stupid comments about AW you beas of shit and making it to the national team does not mean that he is better

  • phillip kazibwe // May 29, 2008 at 7:06 am

flamini deserves it……his game can only fit in arsenal..He could have been good but also look at the players that were around him every time he played ,,,,the likes of Fab, helb,, rosiky,, they really created him a good play…

  • Dusty // May 29, 2008 at 8:15 am

he has more chance of winning something with milan than at arsenal, good luck to the bloke, he probably got fed up with wenger touching his arse every day!

  • mike // May 29, 2008 at 8:37 am

you must be joking that he has a better chance in milan. milan has more problem than it seems. milan=kaka, once kaka doesnt perform, like this season, milan struggled badly. which explains why the money pussy is playin in uefa cup and not CL. SUCK D**k you money sucking bird.

  • mustard // May 29, 2008 at 8:47 am

I find all you angry little gooners rather amusing. Calling him greedy, and deluding yourself that your little 0.34 English player having team is BIGGER than Milan. An interesting factoid that you seem to have escaped your tiny little french brains is the circumstances under which he left his previous club to join “the” arsenal. Hmm, shall we think back? You probably can’t because you only started supporting them when Henry became the BEST PLAYER IN THE UNIVERSE. And I’d imagine he’s watching the euros on a MASSIVE TELLY on a bed of comfortable euros whilst gorgeous french ladies serve him powershakes in golden bikinis. Salut!

  • shamelessarsenal // May 29, 2008 at 9:02 am

come on……..dont blam flamini……..blam money….u know…money is on the top 4 what eva in this world………..

  • shamelessarsenal // May 29, 2008 at 9:06 am

    this guy is good..thats afact

  • Gooner // May 29, 2008 at 9:36 am

Leave Matti alone. The lad gave his all for the club. The club should have sorted out a new contract for the lad last summer. Loyalty cuts both ways. Why didn’t the management sort it out? I see it as a failing of the management team. Anyone here who wouldn’t say no doubling their pay packet? When ever he’s been on the pitch matti gave his all to the cause.

    Gooner

  • paul thor skinbakk // May 29, 2008 at 10:27 am

we cant really complain, he did the same to marseille when signing 4 years ago.

its the modern day footballer – dont hate the player, hate the game

  • pooner // May 29, 2008 at 11:22 am

paul thor skinbakk, did you watch bad boys 2 last night on tv perchance, “don’t hate the player, hate the game”?

i hated seeing flamini go BUT footballers have short careers so earning top dollar is essential, there’s nout wrong in that…

domenach is a grade a tard, leaving out clichy flamini and (slightly unfit) sagna…

  • Harry Barracuda // May 29, 2008 at 11:33 am

Domenech is excellent. Sagna and Clichy will be hot out of the traps at the start of next season. Dropping Flamini is undoubtedly to tell him he’s a disloyal cunt.

    I salute you, Jacques!

  • Dusty // May 29, 2008 at 12:10 pm

lick my balls mike, all players are money grabbing scumbags, point is tho he will win a lot more in milan

  • Lewis // May 29, 2008 at 12:14 pm

  • Lewis // May 29, 2008 at 12:16 pm

Dusty. When will he win a lot more in milan ?….. Inter bossed the league and at the moment AC look average at best. What are you talking about…. do you like football ?
Dusty are you a cunt ?… be honest ?

  • Peter // May 29, 2008 at 2:17 pm

    haha..

  • Sharad // May 29, 2008 at 3:15 pm

milan is bigger than everone else except real madrid and thats a fact. however, in recent years, u might say milan is the biggest club in the world. fact.

he left for money n the fact that it was milan. lets not deny that.

  • LEHMAN // May 30, 2008 at 11:06 am

Sharad you muppet! How can you possibly class AC Milan as bigger than Arsenal. Yes historically they have won more than AFC. However the world now knows how their success was achieved! Arsenal success not based on CHEATING and CORRUPTION. Not financed by debt.
Arsenal team is better than Milan’s, our profile is untainted by corruption, Arsenal FC fanbase internationally bigger than AC’s FACT.

  • Carolina // June 1, 2008 at 12:48 am

AC Milan is one of the best team in the world, like it or not, Arsenal has not win anytning year by year. They are all losers. An he will grow more with Milan because we are the CHAMPIONS!
