Unusual career move

Transfer news: Samuel Eto’o is going to Uzbekistan

Borat isn’t going to like this

Samuel Eto’o Uzbekistan

A few weeks ago, Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o turned down a move to Tottenham Hotspur, reasoning that they are ‘a mid-table club and I need more’. The wantaway Cameroonian obviously heard that PFC Kuruvchi finished second in last year’s Uzbek League, as he has been anounced as a new signing on their extremely well-written website:

In addition, invited and signed contract with Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto’O from Barcelona. Striker will arrive to Tashkent on July 17th and will play in the second half of championship of Uzbekistan. In our view, this great football player you are all well known. But the greatest benefit from him staff of Kuruvchi waiting in the matches of AFC Champions League 2008.

Of course, Barcelona have laughed off claims that Eto’o will be moving to Uzbekistan on a six month contract, yet PFC are confident they have bagged the 27-year-old. They even claim that Barca, who have told Eto’o they don’t want him next season, have significantly lowered their £30m asking price due to the ‘personal friendship between presidents of the clubs.’

Check out PFC Kuruvchi’s official site here, where they also claim that Xavi, Puyol and Iniesta are heading over to the former Soviet nation. The club’s president, Lie McBullcrap, is currently unavailable for comment, and is said to be hiding away in his gum drop mansion at 123 Fake Street, in Tashkent’s wealthy Madeupsville suburb.

That’s great that Kuruvchi has signed contract with Etoo, it stimulates our football players to play better. And thus maybe the level of footbal in Uzbekistan will reach the high ranks. And hope our football players will also be the most famous in the world.

Илтимос, узларингни накадар маданиятсиз эканларингни бу ерда курсатманглар. Хакоратсиз езишни иложи йукми?

If this news is true and Eto agrees to play for Kuruvchi for 40 mln. this will the biggest tragedy for the Uzbek nation. I truly believe these 40 million dollars stolen from the pockets of the Uzbek people should be returned to them and spent on them. I will take such news with happiness only when our people’s lives have changed for better.

  • Hello! // July 16, 2008 at 9:00 am

SAY NO TO RACISM! This is the logo of football around the world, please, do not forget about this…
Democracy and equality of all nation is not only a declaration. It also works. We must make it work. Eto’O may play for Kuruvchi, so why NOT? Is it not allowed? Is it not legal? Or the ground in Uzbekistan do not feet Eto’O?

  • Polish fan of Kuruvchi // July 16, 2008 at 1:45 pm

Hopefully in 15 years Uzbek team will be stronger than Barcelona!!

  • Oligarh // July 16, 2008 at 2:20 pm

Football is the same thing everywhere….Eto’o is a humanbeing like anyone of us….he’s not from another planet or something….he’s not an alien….so why not? Kuruvchi is a young team,it has money and power to do so,so what’s the big deal?…..

    2 Uzbek in America:
Xaqoratlarimizni hech kim tushunmaydi :P Qolaversa bizlarni shuncha xaqoratlashgani yetar.

UZB_FOOTBALL_FANS wants to say, that only uzbeks are glad to this news, but the rest of the world is busy with laughing at us.

2 Polish fan of Kuruvchi: Dziekuje! :)

Why you people have distrust and no respect the latter being foreign to western nationas.
I think you was surprised as much when you heard that Alisher Usmanov got his share with Arsenal.
HE IS UZBEK. There are so much stuff out there that we do not know and may not know: this noise about Eto’s coming to Kuruvchi may well be a seamy deal. But you gonna see it is for sure.
Please generate some level of respect in your feelings, mind or whatever.
Uzbek people have it in abundance.
Please Google or Ask about Uzbeks’ unbelievable deals, dealings and going-ons. One tip though: Usmanov’s purchase of Rostropovich gallery (because Uzbek was pictured on the front page of a catalogue put on auction) See how we value ourselves?! So the outbusrt reflected on this websire by my compatriots is quite vindictable.
Take care, With love from Kuruvchi, Uzbekistan.

Although I doubt if this is a wise decision by PFC Kuruvchi .

  • u dumb ass holes // July 17, 2008 at 5:02 pm

why would eto´o go to a stupid club in uzbekistan??
    u must be kidding.

  • Uzbekistan is super, government is shit // July 17, 2008 at 9:51 pm

The only person who has this money in Uzbekistan is the president and his drug user princess daughter who thinks she can become president later, ha ha ha ha, Uzbeks will not allow this. She will flee for her life if she is lucky. She stole all the money from the people. God bless Eto’o, he is a good man, but our country needs to free itself first. In 15 years once we remove the bloodsuckers and rebuild the country we can by fancy footballers. And we will do it ourselves, not with the help of people like Usmanov the convicted rapist.

    Let’s all see the results.
