The BBC creates an Olympic frenzy with animated trailer
Gorillaz help portray the misery and confusion of China’s capital
To whet our appetites for the impending Beijing Games, the Beeb have decided to produce an animated trailer based on the classical Chinese novel Journey to the West, with the help of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, better known as Gorillaz.
In the clip, Monkey, Pigsy and Sandy encounter numerous dangers on the way to the Bird’s Nest stadium, perhaps intended to mirror the pollution, racism and steroid-filled food that will halt the progress of the world’s finest athletes.
It’s great that the old timers at the BBC are trying to be ‘down with the kids’ with their build up, but I’ve seen David Lynch films that are easier to follow than this bizarre mess.

I’m still trying to figure out what the swamp creatures symbolize. Quindao algae creatures? Maybe, man.
