Inter Milan sued for offensive chanting and banners
Sensitive Napoli supporter wins damages from Serie A champs
A Napoli fan who (rather wisely) chose to remain anonymous has won €1,500 (£1,200) in ‘existential damages’ after taking offence to the super mean banners and chanting of Nerazzurri fans:
[Inter] supporters showed banners at the San Siro calling Naples the “sewer of Italy”. Other banners read: “Ciao cholera sufferers” and “Neapolitans have got tuberculosis” in reference to a crisis in which the streets of the southern Italian city became deluged with rotting refuse for several months following a dispute involving Camorra-run waste disposal service companies, landfill sites and the government.
According to the fan’s lawyer, his client was “indignant and deeply hurt” following the nasty incident, and rightly so. As Bono correctly pointed out in The Simpsons, “waste management affects the whole damn planet.” So Inter fans, unless you want to deal with a self-righteous preachy Irishman, you’d better think twice before using such sickeningly cruel jibes.
Spoiler bonus: Hey Napoli, you think Inter were offensive? Check out what PSG were up to a few months ago.
