Shocking Arsenal news, Gareth Barry update, Rio for England

Tomorrow’s headlines today…

Marc Overmars

Wow, already the Olympics are creating household names – new heroes for us all to love. There’s that Welsh girl who did the bike thing, then the swimming one who was brilliant, and let’s not forget that the little diving guy still has another chance to miss out on the medals. They’re all great. But enough already, here’s some up-to-the-moment football talk to stick in your pipe and make bubbles with…

Barry may play in the UEFA Cup

Martin O’Neill has revealed that if Gareth Barry is still an Aston Villa player on Wednesday then he could feature in their UEFA Cup qualifier against Icelandic side FH. That would render him illegible for the Champions League. Hmm, could this be O’Neill’s subtle way of giving the clubs another deadline? Let’s ask Columbo…

He says “yes”.

England captain announced in seven days
Fabio Capello has confirmed that the new England captain will be revealed two days before next Wednesday’s friendly with the Czech Republic – ie. otherwise known as “next Monday”, Fabio. Rio Ferdinand, get your mock-shock face ready.

IMPORTANT MARC OVERMARS GOSSIP!

One of our most reliable sources says this:

“Overmars was thrown out of the Arsenal Christmas party one year for peering over the cubicles in the women’s to get a cheeky look.”

You heard it here first. Or, like, seventh.

Shocking, no doubt because Marc O had a rep as not liking the ladies very much. That’s how he got the nickname “Overboys”.

actually you’re incorrect. As of this year if you’ve played in the UEFA cup then you’re still eligible to play in the Champions League. UEFA changed these rules to help those players who move without being cup-tied across all European competitions. So Barry CAN play in the UEFA cup and then again in the Champions League should Liverpool or Arsenal sign him up.

Don’t be fucking silly he’s only about three foot nine. He would be peering UNDER the cubicles.

three foot nine but still ripped the yids apart. Good to see Marc O back playing.

Well, as for Gareth Barry it’s all over now. We’ve set our sights on Joe Cole instead. Seriously. Just ask The Daily Mail, another bastion of well-researced football news just like The Spoiler.

Unusual picture of Marc there, in that there are Sheffield United players in the background.
Much more his style to unsportingly use an injury break to run down the touchline and cross for Kanu to score in an empty net, no?

  • Tariq // August 12, 2008 at 10:08 am

Well….at least it wasn’t the mens cubicles.

  • Tim // August 12, 2008 at 1:31 pm

If he plays in the UEFA cup, then he’s going to be “illegible” for the Champion’s League? So… his handwriting is going to get a lot worse?
