Blowing hot and cold

Now a Newcastle star appears to have “weather problems”

Another top player displays temperature issues

James Milner

We’re barely ten days into the new season and already the weather is playing havoc with the ability of some of the more sensitive stars to perform their duties satisfactorily. Vidic says it’s too rainy. Savage says its too cold. Now Newcastle’s not-for-much-longer midfielder James Milner has joined the list.

Although he left Coventry’s Ricoh Arena with the Man of the Match champagne in his handbag on Tuesday, Milner wasn’t having anything to do with reporters eager to discover who he might be planning to share it with. Why the silence? Could Milner be another victim of this season’s weather madness?

In Lee Ryder’s Blog on the Tyne in yesterday’s Newcastle Chronicle, he describes a similar episode when he attempted to interview Milner in the summer, following a training session in Mallorca.

“No,” said Milner. “I’m too hot.”

More likely, of course, Milner was silenced by an immenent move to Aston Villa. Indeed, so shabby has been the treatment received by Milner at Newcastle over the years, according to Ryder, that it would be no surprise if Milner were saving his bottle of the Widow Cliquot’s finest refreshment to toast getting away from them.

Poor lamb, I remember when I was a lad of 22. Getting by on £30k a week was a struggle. It wouldn’t have been such a bind if my pesky manager didn’t make me play football week in week out. Bless.

Still at least James gets to sit ona bench and watch his new team play European football now. Oh, no, wait……….

    Utter bollocks..

James Milner doesn’t earn £30k per week. He gets around £4k per week.

Steven Taylor gets £30k per week. Market forces tell you Milner is going to want more. a similar deal to Taylor would be fair.

Mike Ashley couldn’t give a flying f@ck about what town fans want. Hands up who wants to see Barton in a black and white shirt being run ragged by Milner? Oh and when that happens we’ll no doubt have that moon faced git Wise as the manager.

taylor, nzogbia and milner all on same at 30k,,,milner wants same as argies and barton,,,if he could cross a ball pass people and take a corner and free kick he might be getting 60k a week

  • leigh // August 28, 2008 at 12:01 pm

£4k a week dont be so silly milner is on £35k a week the same as taylor and he aint much better although does try hard. he aint the best player in the world and if we can get 10 mill let him go, why should he hold the club to ransom?

  • wowsigningmyarse // August 28, 2008 at 12:02 pm

Even if we sell Milner.. 20% of the fee goes to Leeds… And if he is worth in the region of £8-10 mil now, what could he be worth in 3 years time? It’s a good job i dont have a dog, I’d call it Ashley and kick it.

  • wowsigningmyarse // August 28, 2008 at 12:04 pm

Did someone just imply barton can cross a ball? FFS he can only do that after three touches.

If I had a cat I’d call it Wise and drown the Moon faced tw@t.

Got to say this is one of the worst articles I have read in a long time – utter arse !

    Harpo: £4k a week – are you having a laugh . . ?

Wake up mate the 1980′s have come and gone !

Milner is not on 4K or 35K more like 15-20K. Thats the issue, your little terrier Wise wont pay him any more dosh. He hoped that the request would force NU hand, but in return they announce it in the press 4 days after he had handed it in. Keegan may prefer Pennant in a swap deal + £5m of L Pools cash to Milner?

  • wowsigningmyarse // August 28, 2008 at 12:29 pm

Does this sound unreasonable… Sack Wise and spend his wages keeping talented players at the toon? I mean, he’s hardly been pulling up trees to strengthen the squad… it sickens me that the Mackems have been able to sign players like cisse and ferdinand… If I had a cat and a dog I’d breed them and sell the runt of the litter to the town for £5.8mil… after beating it and feeding it exclusively on McDonalds and Carling

  • marks // August 28, 2008 at 12:37 pm

why blame ashley didnt realise he was the chairman he owns the club,,he doesent run it quit listening to the southern bias press and stick your head in the real world,,if it rains is it ashleys fault too…ps on cisse and ferdinand no better than what we got,,we want better players than we got,,,easy answer

  • Tinker // August 28, 2008 at 12:40 pm

ferdinand going says more about whu, next leeds?

  • Big Jill // August 28, 2008 at 12:56 pm

man city are the next leeds… mortgage up to the armpit.

and keegan would prefer pennant?!? that’s ambition

  • Josh // August 28, 2008 at 1:08 pm

Hahaha you guys are idiots you have nothing to base your claims about his wages on. None of you have a clue.

Secondly Wise has nothing to do with contracts, he is in to recruit youth players. You are contradicing many official statements.

  • wowsigningmyarse // August 28, 2008 at 1:11 pm

Mark’s yeh he owns it and he is therefore responsible for it… but if he keeps you happy then great! As for “ps on cisse and ferdinand no better than what we got,,we want better players than we got,,,easy answer” We are hardly blessed with a surplus of strikers who play week in/week out are we? And you don’t think ferdinand would have strengthened our squad? AHAHAHAHAHAHA! Further more, how the hell are we going to attract players by sending the message out that we won’t pay the market rate for a players salary?
