Vote: Should Joe Kinnear be given the Newcastle job on a permanent basis?
Forget Keegan and Shearer, could this man be the Messiah?
The laughter that greeted Newcastle’s decision to appoint Joe Kinnear as interim manager has died down somewhat after the Irishman ended a run of five straight defeats and delivered draws in two fixtures that the club lost last season.
If Habib Beye’s unjust 14th minute sending-off against Manchester City had happened a month ago you would have expected Newcastle to wind up losing by five or six, but last night they possessed a newfound resilience and were unlucky not to win.
Kinnear has admitted he would love to take the job full-time, but is he capable of turning Newcastle’s fortunes around on a full-time basis or would it be similar to when they appointed Glenn Roeder after a great spell as caretaker, only for him to leave within a year?

why would you go onto a website like this, onto a story with the above headline, then take the time to vote, and give the answer ‘i have no opinion on this subject’? I dont understand.
Anyway in my opinion i dont think he should get the job full time, yes he has done really well since he came in but with any new manager there is a honeymood period, what we were crying out for was someone to motivate the players and give some form of direction which hughton wasnt providing. The way i see it, we have 2 options, we either go for someone with experience of a high pressure managerial post, or we go for a fans favourite; Keegan or Shearer, personally i’d go for the latter, but give Big Jo a job somewhere behind the scenes.
