The Spoiler’s Stamford Bridge prophecy comes true

Chelsea lose a home league game before November

Liverpool beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

On June 24, with the ink yet to dry on this season’s fixture list, The Spoiler predicted that new Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari would lose one of his first five league games at Stamford Bridge. At the time comments flooded in claiming that we were “clutching at straws” and there were cries of “Liverpool? You are having a laugh.” However, Xabi Alonso’s winner yesterday proved that there was no anti-Chelsea bias, we were merely stating the facts.

Nice to see all the Chelsea fans on here saying that they were wrong and you were right…oh hold on a minute

deathly quiet – just like the Bridge yesterday afternoon at the final whistle. Most of chelsea had gone home moaning and forgot to applaud their players for one of the mpst remarkable records in modern football

    Stamford Bridge: Theatre of Tumbleweed.
Where was the support for the end of their team’s magnificant record?

What a fickle bunch chelsea fans are. Outsung, outplayed, outlclassed.

Yawn. It was a poor match that Liverpool shaded.

Theatre of tumbleweed – very like Anfield when Liverpool lose, as it happens.

This prediction came true, and congrats on that (I haven’t read enough to judge if the spoiler has any level of consistency or is like Nostradamus)

You could hear the ‘Pool fans loud and clear yesterday. Maybe Chelsea should have handed oot free hats or scarfs to improve the atmosphere.

    Oh wait……

you`ve obviously never been to Anfield Andy, we`re the real deal lad and even stayed behind to clap the opposition in the face of crushing disappointment (ask the gooners in 89) and AC Milan in Athens and we always sing our anthem ‘walk on’ when defeated
the game wasnt a yawn either; maybe you had your eyes closed coz you were scared to see the future!

As it happens I have been to Anfield several times. Not on a European night, where popular legend (which I happen to believe) suggests the volume goes up a notch and is something special. On the league games I have been there, it is quite noisy at the start and then, unless Liverpool are winning it is quiet. Like some othe grounds – I have seen much the same at Old Trafford, Highbury (haven’t been to the Emirates so can’t comment) and Stamford Brode, among others.

The game was not a yawn – the ‘Liverpool fans the best ever…’ is, and is blinkered. Of course the Liverpool fans were loud yesterday – Liverpool were leading for almost the entire match to go top of the league. Probably not so loud when they drew with Stoke.

    Spot on ^

No clubs fans are as great as they think they are, most aren’t as bad as others think they are.

you moved the posts a bit there Andy; I wouldnt claim that we produce our ‘european’ noise at every game but you claimed we have the ‘tumbleweed when we lose and I was pointing out that we dont react like that but instead largely react with our anthem. you may not have seen this as you may not have seen us get beat at Anfield?
for upminster iron; we are lad, we`re the original and original is always the best! you only have to look at who leads the way with banners and songs that the rest go on to copy, even the crap england abnd with our ‘ring of fire’ song for example…need I say more?
