Alan Shearer takes over as favourite to be Newcastle boss
MOTD’s worst pundit highly tipped for Kinnear’s job
According to our friends at the newly-designed chickendinner, Alan Shearer has dived past Joe Kinnear and Kevin Keegan to emerge as the new 11/8 favourite to become Newcastle’s next permanent manager.
A spokesman for SkyBet revealed that there have been a flurry of bets on the former Newcastle striker placed in the North East after reports that billionaire Philip Anschutz, who owns a stake in LA Galaxy, was keen on taking over at St James’ Park and had somehow come to the conclusion that Shearer is the ideal man to take the club forward.
This doesn’t seem like great news for the Magpies – just as they are beginning to gain some stability under their interim gaffer, a man with no experience and a thin grasp of the tactical nuances of the game (see any edition of MOTD for evidence).
Do you think he would be good for the job? Let us know with a comment below…

As a Sunderland fan I would be delighted if Shearer got the poisened chalice. When he fails then hopefully he will dissapear back up his own backside which is the only place that he is welcome! If he had any claim to fame (apart from being a brilliant penalty winner) it would be that his total lack of personality & charisma has sank to new depths, making him an ideal candidate for Newcastle as these traits are descriptive of this unbelievably overated & overvalued apology of a football club.

No no no no no no no.
As a newcastle fan I appreciate everything Shearer has done for the club but we can’t afford to take a chance on an untested manager. we need to keep Joe kinnear for a year or two. So we probably won’t be challenging for any titles or silverware but we’ll have a stable base to build from which is something we haven’t had since Fat Fred Pi$$ed away everything Sir Bobby had built at the club by hiring Souness.

“a year or two”… you will be glad to see the back of him in another two months. Roll on Shearer at the Toon, take Lawrenson and Hansen with you
