Transfer Talk

Juande Ramos targets two Spurs wingers, West Ham to hold a fire sale

22 days until the window is flung open

David Bentley and Juande Ramos

The man who was rewarded handsomely for a dismal Premier League performance looks to be interested in one or two players from White Hart Lane, and Zokora isn’t among them. More info in today’s round-up of gossip, rumours and damned lies…

West Ham players to the highest bidder
Cash-strapped West Ham will listen to any offers for a number of first team players in a bid to raise transfer funds for boss Gianfranco Zola, reports the Daily Express. High on The Italian’s list is Fiorentina striker Giampaolo Pazzini who is valued at £7 million. Apparently, the Hammers would be interested in selling one of their three strikers – Carlton Cole, Dean Ashton or Craig Bellamy, but are keen to keep Robert Green and Matthew Upson. The Daily Mail, however, say Harry Redknapp is lining up a £16 million joint bid for both Upson and Green.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: Quashie, Davenport and Boa Morte would be welcomed departures although there might be a lack of Premiership interest, particularly in Nigel “I’ve -been-relegated-with-four-clubs” Quashie’s case. There would be interest in Ashton, Cole and Bellamy from Everton and West Brom (both in dire need of strikers) if the price was right.

Aaron Lennon and David Bentley to Real Madrid
Juande Ramos’ first transfer priority is to bring in some new widemen to the Bernabeu. Ramos is reportedly keen to raid the club nearly ran into the ground for David Bentley and Aaron Lennon.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: Lennon has been Spurs’ best player under Redknapp and it is unlikely he would let either Bentley or Lennon leave unless it was for big money. The Madrid board are unlikely to release too much cash for stop-gap Ramos, who has only been given a six month deal.

A striker to West Brom
West Brom are keen to add a striker or two to their ranks as they seek someone who can grab a few goals in their (doomed) bid to stay up. Tony Mowbray will make enquiries to take Arsenal pair Jay Simpson and Carlos Vela on loan, and is also looking at Aston Villa’s big man Marlon Harewood.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter:
Mowbray would be keen to add to his Baggies squad and might have luck with the Arsenal duo, as Professor Wenger has declared he will let some of his youngsters out on loan in January. Harewood has been used sparingly by Villa boss Martin O’Neill, but may not be granted a move.

David Suazo to the Premier League
Inter Milan striker David Suazo, on loan at Benfica is interesting a number of English sides. The on fire hitman is being tracked by Newcaslte, Aston Villa and Everton.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter:
Suazo is unhappy with his current remuneration package and the lure of the Premier League would attract the Honduran, according to his dad.

Nicky Butt to Wigan
Butt is keen on a reunion with old Manchester United teammate Steve Bruce at Wigan, says the Sun. His current deal at Newcastle expires in the summer and as Mike Ashley continues to stall contract talks with his players, a number of stars are contemplating their long term futures. Bolton are also monitoring Butt’s situation.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: Butt would surely be interested in a move back to his native North West
