Spanish transfer rumours: Zigic, Diarra and Benzema

16 days until the window is flung open

Nikola Zigic

At approximately twelve feet tall, Nikola Zigic is Valencia’s answer to Peter Crouch. According to the latest whispers on the rumour mill, he could be on the way to the Premier League. With little chance of getting the real thing, is Harry looking to bring a Crouch-alike to the Lane?

Nikola Zigic to England
Valencia forward Nikola Zigic is poised for a move to England. Espanyol had been linked with the gigantic hit-man but their transfer chief German de la Cruz has revealed “Zigic has a 99.9% chance of playing in England.” Stoke and Blackburn are reportedly leading the chase but if he is available others might soon join the chase.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: According to ‘German de la Cruz’, it’s quite certain. However, if like us you’ve never heard of Cruz you might not reluctant to take his word on it.

Karim Benzema to Madrid
20-year-old Karim Benzema has announced it is his dream to play for Real Madrid. He also declared a move might be imminent. “I think (my) dream is about to become reality.”

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: With the arrival of fellow striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar already confirmed in January it is doubtful Real will break the bank for another forward. Benzema could well be a Real player in the future, but don’t expect to see a bid before next summer.

Lassana Diarra to Madrid
Juande Ramos has declared his interest in Portsmouth’s Lassana Diarra, who would fill the void left by the injury of Mohammad Diarra (and they wouldn’t have to print up a new shirt). Manchester City have also been strongly linked with the defensive midfielder would cost £9 million plus.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: It is likely Diarra will leave in January with Pompey’s lack of finances well documented. However, if Manchester City were to start a bidding war there will only be one winner. That would be the best result for Spanish commentators, who might get a bit confused with two Diarras in the centre of midfield for Real.
