Jose Mourinho is still in love with Didier Drogba
Inter boss explains his ‘special relationship’ with Ivorian
He may have had millions of pounds, a dog that can survive a stint in Portuguese quarantine and one of the most coveted jobs in the land, but only one thing kept Jose Mourinho warm during those long winter nights in west London: the thought of seeing his beloved Didier Drogba at training every morning.
Unable to spark a similar relationship with Big Phil (who picked Deco as his girlfriend), the Ivory Coast striker was all set to reunite with his former love in Milan in the January transfer window. The Special One, however, has quashed rumours that they reignite their symbiotic relationship in the near future:
“I have never hidden my special relationship with Didier but I do not need another striker as I have Hernan Crespo, Julio Cruz, Mario Balotelli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“Drogba is more than a player for me, he is a part of me, an extension of the coach on the pitch.”
Mourinho may have an abundance of striking talent at his disposal, but something tells us that he will find a way of seeing his ‘extension on the pitch’ soon. Like Lady and the Tramp or Amy Winehouse and hard drugs, they are destined to be together.
