Premier League Petulance

Cristiano Ronaldo lashes out at Stoke’s Andy Wilkinson

Tricky winger lucky not to be dismissed for kicking incident

After returning from the pointless marketing exercise greatest game of their lives in Japan, Manchester Utd scraped a 1-0 win at Stole today thanks to a late Carlos Tevez strike.

C-Ron was hacked all over the place throughout the game, and Stoke’s Andy Wilkinson received a second yellow for a pretty careless challenge on the Portuguese man-o’-sex. Ronaldo, however, reacted to the tackle with a move from the Wayne Rooney book of revenge, and was lucky the ref was paying no attention whatsoever.

We’re seeing this kind of petulant behaviour from the Ballon D’or winner more and more of late – it can only be a matter of time until he gets himself in trouble.

ballack’s attempted face massage against wba was more worthy of a red although c-ron probably deserved one too just because you know he’s gonna think he’s untouchable now and do it more and more. he’s been way too lucky recently considering all the strops and retaliating.

You have to understand why he does this. He gets kicked around by the prems shittiest full backs simply because they have no other methods of dealing with him. However, plain and simple its against the rules and he’ll get in trouble soon.

Where’s the vid of Rooney’s elbow on Amdy Faye ?

    both should’ve been sent off.

no point discussing or reporting as to why/when these off the ball kicks etc will be brought to book … as long as it is done by a MANU player it is ok by the FA rule book.

Obviously not true KG. See Evra’s disproportionate punishment by the FA for the ‘Battle of Stamford Bridge’

The crossed out ‘pointless marketing exercise’ jibe at United winning the Club World Cup was pretty childish wasn’t it? It also has the effect of fatally weakening any faint chance of the comments about United carrying any weight as fair-minded or objective. It just makes the author look jealous and a bit witless.

It pissed me off when he selfishly sub’d himself off v Sunderland. It pissed me off when he kicked out at Michael Dawson. And it pissed me off yesterday with this Wilkinson thing. The Ballon D’or and Club World Cup win only balloon his ego further, thus make him feel he can do what he wants to who he wants whenever he feels like it. United are my team and CR7 is The Best Player In The World, but I totally agree that his behaviour is getting out of hand, and could really do damage to his on-field rep.
Oh, and I don’t know if you support United, Ryan Bailey, but I also disagree with you ’bout the ‘pointless marketing exercise’. After winning the Champions League, I get to call my team the best in the world, and that feels AMAZING!

    >After winning the Champions League, I get to call >my team the best in the world, and that feels >AMAZING!

    That’s fucking sad.
Its only a game, its only a meaningless logo/shirt, its only entertainment, if you derive more from it than that, maybe you should look into filling that void in your life.

    pointless marketing exercise?
As though United had a choice on this one!

When United’s big names lashes at other players, it’s instantly highlighted in the media, newspapers, websites..etc. Why? Because somebody needs to sell some news.
When lesser known players from other teams do the same thing to United players, over & over again, that seemed to be missed out. It’s definitely no news when someone like Andy Wilkinson kicks Ronaldo around for one whole match but its definitely a news the second Ronaldo gets caught with a moment of madness…

  • kev // December 28, 2008 at 10:25 am

It may be a moment of madness, but that doesn’t mean he or rooney should have got away with it, both should have been red carded. Andy wilkonson got punished for kicking him around thats why he wasn’t there come the end of the game. the united players should also have been punished in the same vein

Wilkinson is a crap full back. Ronaldo shouldn’t get penalized but Rooney should simply
