Man Utd denied highly inventive opener in Sunday title clash
Manchester Utd pushed into third place yesterday after completely drinking Chelsea milkshake at Old Trafford, and one of the major talking points was Cristiano Ronaldo’s disallowed goal.
In a cheeky move taken straight from the training ground, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giigs combined to fool the Chelsea defence. However, assistant referee Darren Cann took a novel approach to the rules of the game by ruling out this perfectly legal move.
If Chelsea hadn’t rolled over and let Manchester Utd tickle their proverbial belly, we definitely would have heard a lot more bleating about this from Mr Ferguson..

Really clever – the only argument is whether corners are like free kicks in that you have to tell the ref (or assistant?) if you want to wait for the whistle or not. I don’t know, anyone have the FA rulebook on this?

It is not uncommon to see the trick pulled on the youth amateur fields of Mexico, Rooney should of given a heads up to the linesmen what he was doing…

also,roma did it last year. wasn’t allowed either.
