My sincerest apologies if this story has upset anyone.

The construction of Mbombela Stadium stadium started in early 2007, and is due to be completed in mid-2009. The photo was merely meant to illustrate how it currently looks nothing like a 44,000-seater venue that adheres to FIFA’s strict requirements.

Perhaps the tone of the headline is a little sarcastic, but it is not meant to be distasteful, disrespectful or exploitative.

The irony is a country spending millions on stadiums when you have kids sitting barefoot on the dirt street, outside their hut made from sticks and stones.

I don’t think the intention is to make fun of the kids or their plight, rather to point out that SA seems to have their priorities wrong, and this event will likely be a shambles.

I agree, this is very disrispectful, I don’t know if it is funny to make fun of country like this. Is not like England are the most powerfull country in the world.

i’m not liking this new streak on the spoiler.
first the bulgarian kids charity and now this. i don’t care if getty images did it. it’s like when the pope offended the muslims by ‘quoting’ an old text which somehow makes it ok when it doesn’t.
