According to Sky Sports, The Old Lady may give their old boys Trezeguet and Del Piero some competition up front with the signing of West Ham’s in-form striker. No money is mentioned, but the sum was said to be around £8m when Spurs were chasing him.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: It sounds a little incredulous, but Claudio Ranieri is a huge fan of Cole (“He is my young lion,” he said of the youngster while at Chelsea), and West Ham are still looking to balance their books.
Hayden Mullins and Pelé to Portsmouth
Tony Adams is said to have bolstered his midfield with West Ham’s Hayden Mullins, for a fee of around £1m. Also joining him is Pelé (not the old erectile dysfunction-combating one, the 21-year-old FC Porto one), who is on loan for the rest of thee season.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Sky Sports confirm that both are done deals. After the departure of Diarra and injury of Diop, they will both be very welcome.
Pascal Chimbonda to Tottenham
As part of Tottenham’s continuing efforts to re-sign all their recently departed staff, Ricky Sbragia has confirmed that Pascal Chimbonda is currently undergoing a medical with the north London side.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Sbragia clearly has no hard feelings over the move: “He’s in London, he’s having a medical down there, but if it doesn’t work out, we’ll be pleased to see him back.”
