Video: David Beckham adopts an Italian accent
That’s almost as good as learning the language, right?
We posted part of this Bolgna/ Milan post-match interview yesterday, and eagle-eyed Spoiler reader GloucesterRugby noticed that David Beckham is showing some signs of becoming Italian.
Becks, of course, isn’t the first one to be found guilty of putting on a foreign twang – we all know what happened when Schteve McClaren moved to Holland.
Linguistic fans out there will probably know that this phenomenon is known as “speech accommodation.” It’s when someone intrinsically copies the speech pattern of another in order to fit in – like when you pretend to be well educated and proper when discussing mortgages with the bank manager, but pretend you were raised by Danny Dyer and Jason Statham when you’re in the pub.

Cheers for the mention Mr Bailey, pity there is no prize on offer for this spot. However you have my e-mail if you are feeling…how you say… generous.

Credit where it’s due, GR.
And is the respect and adulation of The Spoiler community not a big enough prize? No? OK, email me your address and I’ll see what I can do…
