Man City chase Kolo Toure and Roque Santa Cruz, Bundesliga side targets Jo
The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies…
With just four days of trading remaining in the window, it’s little surprise that today’s rumours are very City-centric…
Kolo Toure to Manchester City
According to The Daily Mail, Manchester City have renewed their £12m bid for the longest serving member of Arsenal’s current squad (does that mean they just asked Arsenal again to see if they wanted to do the deal they already refused?). If unsuccessful, they may up the bid to £15m and throw in Richard Dunne.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: This would cover the Arshavin deal, but the Professor is very unlikely to let Toure go.
Roque Santa Cruz to Manchester City
Keen to burn through the unused Kaka money as quickly as possible, the blue side of Manchester has put in a final bid for the Blackburn striker of £18.5m, say The Guardian.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: It’s clear that Santa Cruz wants to move on, but it all hinges on Blackburn chairman John Williams, who must decide whether the club can afford to lose their best player at such a crucial stage in the season.
Jo to Hoffenheim
Bundesliga leaders TSG Hoffenheim are interested in taking Jo off of Manchester City’s hands, say the Manchester Evening News. The club would make a big loss on his £19m transfer fee, as the shrewd Germans will only pay £8-9m.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: It’s unlikely that any children in Manchester will cry if Jo leaves, and the Citizens will do well to get him off of their wage bill.
Carlos Tevez to Manchester City or Chelsea or maybe Real Madrid
The Times believe City, Chelsea and Real Madrid will challenge Manchester Utd for the Argentinian’s permanent signature when his two-year lease deal runs out in June.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: If he tires of playing third fiddle to Berbs and Rooney, Real Madrid is said to be his preferred destination.
