Video highlights: Spain outclass England

Cold hard reality slaps confident England in the face

Spain 2/ England 0

After five consecutive wins, there was an air of confidence about the England team prior to their visit to Seville’s Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium. European champions Spain, however, soon made it clear they were in a different class, exposing the technical flaws of Fabio Capello’s side.

On his 108th international outing, second half substitute David Beckham played well (his through ball to Carlton Cole in the dying minutes was sublime), but was ultimately let down by a yellow card and a subsequent petulant argument with the referee.
