Darren Bent gives Harry Redknapp some good news
Striker says he will leave if he isn’t picked
Darren Bent has scored fourteen goals this season, and is the sixth highest scorer in the Premier League. Despite this impressive form, he’s generally been a bit rubbish at Tottenham, and it’s clear that Harry Redknapp doesn’t rate the former Charlton hitman.
As a means of gaining leverage at the club, Bent has today claimed he will leave he doesn’t get to play regularly:
“I’ve spoken to the manager a couple of times about my position but I can only hear the same thing so many times.
“I’d like to think that improvement will be with Tottenham. But if nothing is happening for me by the end of the season then I will look to go elsewhere.
“I need to play more games. I want to play football. I don’t want another season where I’m in and out of the team all the time.
“I’ve actually scored quite a lot of goals this season, considering I’m not playing regularly.
“So I’m going to have to weigh up my options in the summer.”
In a Spoiler exclusive, we actually managed to obtain a transcript of a recent conversation between Redknapp and Bent:
DB: Boss, I’m unhappy with the hurtful comments you made about me to the press, and if I feel I should have greater involvement in the starting eleven.
HR: [Sits in silence, reading Nuts magazine]
DB: I think I’m going to have to weight up my options in the summer.
HR: [Still silent and engrossed in magazine, turning it sideways to look at Danielle Lloyd centrefold]
DB: Boss, can I just…
HR: [Yawns loudly, puts down magazine and gets up to leave the room]
