Rick Parry kicked out of Liverpool
Could Parry’s departure spark a new deal for Rafa?
In news that will undoubtedly delight the red side of the Mersey, Liverpool will today announce that chief executive Rick Parry is to leave the club at the end of the season.
Parry, who joined the club in 1998, was instrumental in bringing Rafa Benitez to Merseyside, but has been heavily criticised for not giving the manager enough support.
The fervent Liverpool fan has also had tiffs with owners Billy Bob Gillett and Hank Hicks – the latter once labelled him a failure and called for his resignation.
Rafa Benitez has complained that he does not have enough control over the club’s transfer policy, and rumours circulated earlier this week that the Real Madrid match would be his last in charge of the club.
Now, it appears Benitez has won some ground in the power struggle, and now looks much more likely to sign a new deal.
