Phil Brown shows how defeat can affect your point of view
Hull boss wrote glowingly about his nemesis just four months ago
Last November Phil Brown wrote an article in the Daily Telegraph defending Arsene Wenger, who at the time was being criticised by Arsenal fans after the club’s disappointing start to the season.
In a story headlined “How can you criticise Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger?” the Hull manager spoke of how a long conversation with Frenchman inspired him when he first entered coaching and also stated:
“Nobody in the game of football, certainly not at my level, can criticise him for what he has done for Arsenal over the past 10 years. He is a model for any young coach, manager or chairman who want to achieve.”
So surely the same Phil Brown who has no right to criticise Wenger’s work at Arsenal couldn’t have said this after his side’s 2-1 FA Cup defeat on Tuesday:
“Arsene Wenger got my goalkeeper booked. You call that good management? He was complaining about time-wasting. It’s an absolute disgrace.”
Other bitter complaints included that Cesc Fabregas wasn’t dressed smartly enough, that the Spaniard’s alleged spit “shows you what this club is all about” and that Wenger never shakes his hand – despite evidence to the contrary.

Comments of a man who realises his season is now over ,apart from his fight against relegation.

why couldn’t Phil Brown have come to shake Arsena Wenger’s hand. Afterall he was the defeated manager; it’s a sign of his disrespect. Surely if nothing is proved then Cesc could sue him for libel?

Phil Brown almost cry in the interview with BBC radio 5 live. Victoria had to console him. He asked if they doubt his integrity and forgot the mentioning of “this shows what Arsenal is about” comment. His voice is trembling and shaky like a little criminal in the court room… He belittle the heroic efforts of his own players and decided to hit below the belt.. oh dear oh dear…

Cesc as well as Arsenal Football Club should sue Phil Brown and Horton for defamation.
