Pick your Liverpool team to face Chelsea

Like the last post, but the other way around innit

Liverpool’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation has been scuppered by Macherano’s suspension. Therefore, rather than replacing him like-for-like with Lucas, we think Liverpool should bring in Benayoun, who has been brilliant recently, and switch to 4-4-2 with Kuyt up front.

Playing like this, The Spoiler believes Liverpool can take the game to Chelsea and try to finish them off in the home leg, something they failed to do last year. The drawback is that Yossi Benayoun is said to be struggling for fitness, butwe’re thinking this could be a scurrilous mind game.

    No way. With this lineup Gerrard will have to drop deeper to help Alonso, meaning he won’t be linking up as frequently with Torres. Benayoun is in good form, but he usually just comes on in place of a winger if we’re looking for a goal.

    Lucas is very average, but he must replace Mascherano. To play anything but Gerrard and Torres up front would be insanity.

    Lucas is Not a Bad player. Fair due he has made a few mistakes. But at times he has played very well. (check out the man of the match awards from fans on the official website) Have to stick with Gerrard and Torres up front.

    Babel!? He’s gone backwards this season, big time. His first touch is awful and he plays with no confidence.

    His attitude doesn’t strike me as being all that professional either, I can see him leaving in the summer.
