ONCE A BLUE...

Wayne Rooney might go to the FA Cup Final as an Everton fan

Badge-kisser tries to ease the tension with his former club

The last time Wayne Rooney stood near a group of Everton fans

Wayne Rooney was hauled off the pitch by Sir Alex Ferguson to avoid being sent-off in his last meeting with former club Everton after baiting their fans by kissing the badge on his Manchester United shirt.

Before that game, Rooney spoke of a determination to score his 100th career goal against the Toffees but this time he is acting far more diplomatically, insisting he still considers Everton his second team.

Even more surprisingly, the one-time owner of a “once a Blue, always a Blue” shirt refused to rule out supporting Everton at Wembley in the FA Cup final should they eliminate Manchester United on Sunday. He said:

“I’m not sure if I’d go to the final or not. I’m not sure where I’d sit. I might have to go in disguise!”

In other news, Sol Campbell has admitted that he was in the stands at the last two Carling Cup finals wearing his Spurs shirt and heartily joining in with choruses of “Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur”.
