Everton to swoop for Michael Owen, Liverpool target £10m Marseille midfielder

The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies…

Lorik Cana

Lorik Cana to Liverpool
If Xabi Alonso head off the Juventus in the summer, Liverpool may bring in the £10m-rated Marseille captain who showed Rafa his class in the Champions League earlier this season.

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Alonso’s agent denied the Juventus link yesterday, but if he does go, the lauded Albanian international Cana will make a good replacement.

Michael Owen to Everton
The Daily Express claim Everton will make a shock swoop for the former Liverpool star this summer. It’s understood they won’t match his (stupidly high) £100,000 weekly wages, but he will be expecting to take a paycut wherever he ends up.

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Owen has been very reticent to sign a new contract at Newcastle, suggesting he wishes to finish his career elsewhere. If Alan Shearer fails to pull off a miracle, we could see the striker in blue next season.

Samuel Eto’o to stay in Barcelona
Ahead of the crucial clash with Real Madrid, the Cameroonian appeared on Spanish television to reiterate his position at the club. According to Spanish paper Sport, Eto’o said his future is with Barcelona, and he trusts contract negotiations will go smoothly in the summer.

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Re-assuring words, but Gary Cooke’s recent meeting with Joan Laporta officials may concern Barca fans.

90% pay cut for Owen would be fair reflection of his deeds in past 2-3 seasons
