Vote: Should Utd try to keep Carlos Tevez or let him go?
Superstar benchwarmer is prepared to leave Manchester
In this week’s Shortlist magazine, Lionel Messi sings the praises of Argentinean teammate Carlos Tevez, drawing attention to his indifference about sitting on those lovely comfy Audi seats at Old Trafford:
He is very funny and always in a good mood. He never gets mad. If he has to sit on the bench, he just sits there and encourages his teammates.
In an interview published in today’s Sun, however, Tevez revealed that he is growing tired of starting or finishing matches on the sidelines, something that was evident in the way he shook his head when making way for Dimitar Berbatov during Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Arsenal:
“It’s true I’ve spent a lot of time on the bench and I’d like to play more. But every time I’m given a chance I do all I can to do well and take full advantage.
“Yes, it’s like that, it’s true I see myself more leaving United than staying here.
[...]
“My future? I don’t know what will happen for my future. I would like to go to Spain, yes, but I don’t know yet.”
Those of us without economics degrees and gigantic Wenger-like brains will never fully understand the two-year loan deal that brought Tevez to Old Trafford, but it expires at the end of this season, meaning Manchester Utd will have to part with around £32m (less the £10m already paid as part of his loan) to stop him moving on. Aside from the much-publicised move to Real Madrid, Tevez has also been linked to Inter Milan, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Few people in football (outside of Sheffield Utd) have a bad word to say about Tevez, yet Fergie appears to be doing little to retain his services. So, should Utd try their hardest to keep their lovable wet dog-alike, or will they barely notice his absence when the likes of Federico Macheda come into full bloom? Let us know your thoughts below…

i dont see why carlos cant stay at O.T as he’s a real fan favorite and really with united being able to get him for 20mill i reckon its a bargin considering the crazy prices thats floating around these days. But i do understand that united are in talks with kaka at a cost of 70mill as he already stated he wants to play for united so maybe this is why united are not making a move for carlos. I personly would like to see him stay as he always gives 100% for the club

I hope he stays. Bebatov is great but we need someone who works as hard as Carlos for teams that are attack minded.
Ray // May 1, 2009 at 6:47 pm
Carlitos, go to Madrid, you will get regular games.
Fergie is just trying to play mind games by saying “I have no doubt he won’t want to stay because he knows how we have treated him”
- It’s called ‘passive aggressiveness’ Fergie.
Footballers want regular games, not ‘to be treated well just because ‘he’s an argy in England’.
Fuck MU, Fergie has fucked the privilege of Carlos up for their fans, who have more sense.
If there is justice for this mess Tevez will spank MU playing for Madrid in the Champions League finals with Berbatov left for dead for being the weak spiritless damp squib that will prove to be in comparison.
He shouldn’t have to stay just because the fans adore him, as they will anywhere, a top player like him doesn’t want to be a superstar bench warmer, end of.

“man utd are the best club in the world at the minute and thats a FACT !!!”
No, that is an OPINION.
“so ask urself why would he go to madrid”
Maybe because he wants to play and not be a benchwarmer?
“so grow up and think about things before you write such rubbish.”
Oh ho ho ho.

I just think that Man U needs to play him more often or let him go. He is too good to be a 2nd string player. This guy is approaching his prime. He needs more match play to grow as a player.
Fergie is being selfish by dangling him this way. Either allow him to get as much match play as Berbatov or let him go to Spain and get the first string match play he deserves.
I personally believe that Fergie is trying to have his cake and eat it too. Not fair to Tevez. I would encourage Tevez to look out for himself and forget loyalty to Man U.

anybody else feel that red devil ‘s got a serious Liverpool problem? first ray, then luke. its like paranoia – “you’re a liverpool fan!!!”, ” you liverpool fan shit!! i’ll have you!!!”
now, i’ll be a liverpool fan fast enough.
haha.
PS-there is no title saying “best club in the world” thus, it cannot be fact, although its a widely accepted opinion. in my opinion the best team and squad actually are barcalona, the greatest club? have to be ac milan.
PPS-i always thought the liverpool ground was one of the best. meh.

ref jimmy… incase you dnt know any better man united are infact champions of the world at the moment so this does indeed mean that they are the best club in the world. FACT is a way rafa likes to put things and he should get his facts right he has spent more money than any other manager in the legaue now go on the net and check out how stuiped his remarks are.i agree with red devil hes got valid points. oh and by the way go to anfield yourself sometime than come to old trafford and youll see for yourself that liverpoo have a crap ground.
jimmy // May 5, 2009 at 7:02 am
ok, mcgurk. italy won the world cup. doesn’t make em the best team in the world.
and if it does, then spain’s the best in europe while italy’s the best in the world. how did this happen? you’ll find yourself in a little bit of logical trouble with that one.
WEMBLEY is a crap ground, from what i hear. just because one is better than the other doesn’t make the latter crap. crap has to be bad and i dont think there’s been any complaints about the anfield pitch as far as i can remember.
mcgurk // May 5, 2009 at 11:58 pm
jimmy your a fool and its a waste of time trying to explain the rights and wrong of the above statement.manchester united are world “CLUB” champions the “PREM” champions and the current “EUROPEAN” champions which of course does INFACT mean that they are indeed the best club side in the world at this presant time only a fool like yourself would try to disagree. your sour grapes are there for all to see and any one reading this article will p*ss themselfs laughing at your stuipet statement.p.s rome is wiating for the current european champions going to defend their crown……….
jimmy // May 6, 2009 at 6:05 am
my word.
let me explain something. you assume i have grapes to begin with. i dont support any European side, for your information. so no, im not crying in the corner after united defeated my team. in fact, they’ve never played em.
the italy spain thing was suppose to suggest that a team cannot list a title and say they’re the best. in that way, São Paulo FC was the best team in the world in 2005. would you agree with that?
i think not.
there is no such TITLE that says BEST TEAM OF THE WORLD. thus any team cannot be the best team of the world. if the statement is issued it will always be an opinion. check the definition of FACT before you do anything else.
now united may be the best of the world, but i think barca just beat em to it at the moment. that is my OPINION. you can argue it if you like. and many would agree with either one of us.
just stop being a fan. and think.
PPS- yes, i am so…..”stuipet”, that i wanna talk this out, while all you are doing is looking for bragging rights.
