Adebayor: “We have taken a step backwards”

Togolese striker endears himself to Gunners fans once again

Emmanuel Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor has been touting his love of his favourite Bootylicious Serie A club for some time, but yesterday attempted to bury rumours of a transfer on the official Arsenal site, declaring his 100 per cent dedication to the club.

Despite his sudden love for all things North London, the striker has felt the need to criticise the Wenger regime:

“I think we have taken a step backwards – not only me but the whole team.”I don’t know what we are going to do for next season but we need to get some more players.

“We lost Alex Hleb to Barcelona and Mathieu Flamini to Milan last summer and it has been quite difficult for us since.

“We have a young team and we have tried to make the best of it. But when I came Arsenal in 2006 people told me I had the chance to win trophies – yet we are still empty-handed.”

Manu isn’t exactly the most popular player at The Emirates these days, and will be doing himself no favours with his latest comments. Frankly, The Spoiler believes Arsenal will be better of without his mistake-ridden performances and nay-saying attitude – the sooner he trots off to The Rossoneri, the better.

he is useless/worthless. He doesn’t show up in important games, look when he’s scored this year in the premier league, never against a top 4 team, and most occurred against teams who are relegation battling… we don’t need him we need someone who can create on their own. rvp puts them away beautifully, but we only score when arshavin or someone dribbles and creates.

He hasn’t exactly stood up to be counted has he? His work rate is poor and he over rates his value to this Team. It is a young Team and they need more leaders on the pitch but he is not one of them. Arshavin has only just got here, not match fit but he works. The number of injuries to key personnel I believes makes our results this season exceptional. Next season we will start the season with probably the only injury concern being Rosicky. If they stay fit the season will be massive….my message to Ade is ‘believe as true Gooners do’.

Sure Arsenal made him. He isn’t the polished gem yet. If he wants to leave, then he should go quietly. He hasn’t earned the huge tag he wants to put on himself yet.

To a large extent Adebayor is right,he is the only one who is not hidding from the fact that the team are way to inexperienced to win anyhing. As one of the senior players he is right to call upon the board to buy more experienced players. remember before henry lefthe asked for the board to buy more players and no one listened until he decided he wasn’t going to retire empty handed. Why should the supporters b made to pay thousands of pounds to watch an academy, always hoping that one day we win something. Howlong are we going to keep on saying ” this time maybe we will win something..”.lets work up before we become content with always being 4th”. This team needs top class defender with organisational and leadership skills, a no nonsence defensive midfielder and a top class finisher.
