Alan Shearer is staying, Man United want Franck Ribery and Celtic consider Tony Mowbray
The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies…
Alan Shearer will be offered a four-year contract
Joe Kinnear’s favourite journalist Simon Bird is reporting that Mike Ashley wants Alan Shearer to sign a four-year contract. The Geordie Messiah failed to pick up the six points from eight games needed to survive yet is still viewed as the ideal man to bring Newcastle back to the Premier League.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Ashley has pretty much botched every major decision he has had to make so it’s no surprise that he is willing to give an unproven manager a long-term deal just to appease the fans.
Franck Ribery to Manchester United
Patrice Evra has described his international teammate Franck Ribery as “the ideal solution” if Cristiano Ronaldo decides to leave this summer and has told the Bayern Munich man that he had “better come here”.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Ribery looks certain to leave Germany this summer but he could be heading to Real Madrid after Florentino Perez’s adviser Zinedine Zidane said he would take the Frenchman over Ronaldo.
Tony Mowbray or Mark McGhee to Celtic
Gordon Strachan resigned as Celtic manager yesterday after failing to win the SPL for the first time in four years and is reported to have recommended that Motherwell boss Mark McGhee succeeds him. The Sun claim that owner Dermot Desmond would prefer Tony Mowbray though.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Mowbray’s stock is high in Scotland after guiding Hibernian to consecutive top-four finishes and he would offer the stylish football Celtic fans feel they never saw under Strachan. He may want to repay the West Brom supporters who stood by him this season though.
