With the FA Cup Final and the conclusion of several European major leagues happening over the weekend, somehow the tantalising friendly clash between the giants of Oman and the titans of Egypt escaped our attention. Thankfully, our boys at 101GG were paying attention to the Middle Eastern action, which Egypt won thanks to a Mohamed Aboutrika effort.
The highlight of the match happened during the subsequent goal celebration – Amr ‘The most unprofessional man Steve Bruce has ever worked with’ Zaki was keen to congratulate his teammate, but inadvertently enjoyed some face time with substitute Ahmed Eid Abdel Malek.
The result? A loss of blood and dignity, and six stitches in his face.

Why in the world a substitute would run to celebrate a goal in a friendly? Zaki should give hi ma slap now :p

This article and the previous comment are totally insensitive and arrogant. This was a total bad luck accident caused by one of the substitutes on the Egyptian team who could not hold his joy and entered the field when he should have just celebrated with his teammates on the sideline – as the Arabic-speaking commentator was saying. This sub player had no business being on the field, and I cannot blame Zaki for being so happy for this critical win ahead of Egypt’s tough game against Algeria the following week. My sympathies to Amr Zaki and best wishes for a quick recovery. I know we will see many more goals God willing from Zaki and from Egypt in the upcoming games. I predict Egypt to go through to the Final 8 (or better) in the upcoming World Cup and make it to the Final in the Confederation Cup. (tough, but they will surprise everyone).
