Barca’s €25m bid for Mascherano, Arsenal target £12m Bundesliga sensation

The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies…

Javier Mascherano

Javier Mascherano to Barcelona
Concerned by the departure of Eidur Gudjohnsen, and the fact that Yaya Toure and Seydou Keita will be absent for a large portion of next season thanks to the African Cup of Nations, the Champions of Europe may turn to the Argentinean defensive midfielder. “Few players are rated so highly by the powers that be at Barcelona,” says Spanish paper Sport.

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Rafa will take some persuading on this one, but the Spanish press seem to think €25m will do the trick.

Edin Dzeko to Arsenal
The Daily Mail believe the Gunners are joining the race for the jewel in Wolfsburg’s Bundesliga-winning crown. The Bosnian striker – who won German Player of the Year – would cost upwards of £12m.

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Manchester City are also in the running, so it depends if Dzeko would prefer huge sacks full of money, or the chance to play in the Champions League (something he would give up by leaving Wolfsburg).

Nemanja Vidic to AC Milan
New Rossoneri manager Leonardo is expected to have a lot of money to play with in the next week, and it is believed he wishes to replace 912-year-old captain Paolo Maldini with someone of similar quality. A €25m bid is currently being prepared for Serbia’s finest.

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Vidic has made his feelings about Manchester quite clear so he should be happier in equally rainy and industrial Milan.

25 million euros would just about afford Barca Mascha’s mis-shapen head.

    Silly season in full effect.
