O’Neill refuses to sell Young, Spurs linked with another former Arsenal midfielder
The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies
Ashley Young not going to Tottenham
The Guardian say Martin O’Neill will definitely not sell his prized asset, particularly to a club “on a similar level”. He utterly refuses and will not be persuaded. Unless they stump up £30m, that is.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: As much as ‘Arry admires the left-sided forward, £30m is a little steep.
Barry Ferguson to Birmingham
Despite his infamous naughty drinking problems, Alex McLeish is keen to reacquaint himself with the former Scotland captain. The 31-year-old midfielder would cost around £1.5m.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Ferguson has been linked with a move back to England since the beginning of the year. Walter Smith dropped him last season, so can’t be too keen to keep him.
Mathieu Flamini to Tottenham
Not content with luring Patrick Vieira, Spurs are keen to bring another Arsenal midfielder to the fold next season, according to Sky Sport Italia. The Frenchman is tired of playing as a full-back, and could return to London in a £7.5m deal.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Arsenal fans never really wanted him to leave in the first place and they almost got him back in a cash-plus-player exchange for Emmanuel Adebayor last week, so this will be a bitter pill to swallow if it happens. We don’t think it will, though.
