Vote: Will Benitez be the next Premiership manager to go?

Spaniard becomes favourite to enter the world of unemployment

Rafa Benitez

Following last night’s home defeat to Aston Villa, Senor Benitez has leapfrogged over Paul Hart to become the favourite to be the next Premier League manager to go. SkyBet put him at a worryingly short 11/10 to clear his desk first, with the Pompey manager following at 9/4, and Alex McLeish and Phil Brown circling the periphery at 7/1.

Rafa is no stranger to straddling the fine line between gainful employment and a P45: his brush ups with the Billy Bob Gillett and Hank Hicks over the past few years have encouraged rumours of disharmony, and just last week the Spaniard was subject to a Twitter-based rumour which suggested he had walked out.

So, will Rafa see through Liverpool’s current spate of patchy form, or will he claim the honour of the first unceremonious departure of the season? Let us know your thoughts below…

It’s hardly Rafa’s fault that LFC’s new owners hoovered up the transfer earnings from Alonso’s sale to pay down debt.

The owners know the situation, they won’t be selling Benitez.

It’s just being a Spurs fan, I’m used to buying teams Managers :D

Sooner or later Ricky Gervais is going to approach Rafa for royalties if he keeps up this “shit manager with the awful facial hair” act up.

However, I think Smegson will go first.

Notice that both managers have come out and… blamed their star players for their losses. How professional.

Hart will be the first to go once The Shaky Sheik finally completes the takeover, but I fear Rafa won’t be far behind. He will, however, quit rather than get the sack as the Septics can’t afford to sack him after last year’s ironclad contract

Hart looks favourate to me, his rant about the foul that wasn’t against Arsenal showed how much presure he is under. Two consistantly bad managers on the trot for Pompay. As for Benetiz, after spending £200m on players post CL success he has no scope for complaint!

Surely it has to be Hart who, after Saturday’s comical display, turned up on the telly and talked about a committed whole-hearted performance etc etc.

Rafa seems untouchable — a bit like Steve Jobs, he has a legion of InterWeb fan-boys who leap to his defense at every opportunity.

if benitez does get the sack, who would replace him.
i’m thinking of that german guy who was fired from madrid, schuster or something. klisman could come into the balance. we do need a fresh face at liverpool, im tired of the transfer policy
