It’s an unjust decision, Chelsea didn’t payed Mutu a sum around 14.6 million, that scale of sum they payed to Parma club. To Mutu they only payed the wages … So where is the logic to demand that sum from the person in acase as such, on image prejudice, this is just high level of Chelsea hypocrisy …

If a murderer gets 4 life terms for a quadruple killing, does he get let off three because he doesn’t have four lives?

Juventus joined in a scheme with Mutu whereby they made 9m or 10m profit due to Mutu’s breaking of his contract at Chelsea. Mutu was part of the scam, joining another club who would then pass him on to Juventus. With no big fee involved, Mutu could command a higher salary.
He didn’t get away with it and Chelsea rightly demanded compensation. The court agreed it was a scam. The mealy-mouthed posters who don’t have an inkling of the facts are the kind of fools Mutu is appealing to in his appalling “Open Letter”.

The simple fact is he DOES NOT have £14.6m. So, what’s the point of fining him that amount?

The argument, I suppose, is that was his transfer value, or the fee that Chelsea paid for him. If so, that is a flawed argument. Current value has nothing to do with purchasing fee, especially in football.

Also, Chelsea are the ones who decided to sack him. So, in effect, they shot themselves in the foot and are now suing the bullet maker for recompense.

Had Chelsea stood by the player, got him through it, then he would have been able to fulfil his contract, and / or Chelsea would have been able to recoup some or all of that by selling him on. Exhibit A: Paul Merson and Arsenal. I don’t think Merson was caught and banned, but the principle remains the same.

Chelsea has nothing to do with the court’s decision or the final sum of the damages.
Mutu is like a convicted burglar writing to his victims asking them to ignore the verdict of his trial and, instead, to join him in making a charitable contribution to a local dog shelter.
A farce.

As a Chelsea fan, I’m disgusted by Chelsea’s treatment of Adrian Mutu. As a Club you were not willing to stand by the player and help him out but instead threw him on the scrap heap. Now he has got back on his feet you go after him in this manner. Thoroughly disgusting behaviour by Chelsea.
