Calendar enthusiasts will be aware that today is 09/09/09, which is easily the most significant day in the Gregorian system since 07/08/09. In celebration of this tremendous occasion, we’re asking you to pick the best current number nine in the Premier League.
It’s a fairly mixed bunch – which sees no representatives from nine-haters Fulham and Everton – and we suspect one of two names will dominate…

Looking at that list you’d think strikers were trying to AVOID the hallowed no. 9 jersey. Didn’t Boulahrouz get the Chelsea no. 9 shirt when he joined? That has to be one of the most criminal cases of disregard for the traditional shirt number seen in the English game.

Calling Everton 9 haters is a bit harsh. We don’t have a number 9 because we don’t have a true number 9 worthy of the shirt (no disrespect to King Louis or the Yak).
I’d rather not have a number 9 than have Marlon Harewood wearing it…

Two will dominate? I don’t really see how there’s a choice here. Torres is head and shoulders above the rest.
