Football QI – Here to bust all your Premier League myths

More informative than being told Peter Crouch has a good touch for such a big man

Come on Norwich

1. All hail Thomas Vermalen:
Let’s not bother actually. He may have scored four goals already, but Arsenal have never conceded more than eleven goals in their first nine Premier League goals. Until now – they’ve shipped thirteen this season already.

2. Referees favour Manchester United:
Which would be why they are the only club in the league to have received more than one red card this season.

3. Aston Villa are such a threat on the break.
Only a threat to those sitting behind the goal. Villa have had the least shots on target of any Premier League club this season.

Surely these are amongst the most useless and completley f*cking stupid facts collated…

    1) Couldn’t Arsenal’s defensive record this season be more to do with Vermaelen’s substandard partner in Gallas, a decidedly dodgy keeper for the majority of the season in Almunia, full backs more interested in attacking than defending and a well documented lack of a decent defensive mid. Anyone who’s watched a minute of Vermaelen’s play can see he’s quality.

    2) Are you suggesting they weren’t warranted red cards!? United do get favoured, but so do Chelsea and the rest of the top 4. If United are top of the red card list its more a sign of there poor form this season than any ref bias.

    3) Surely a team playing on the break would naturally have less shots on goal and not more. Isn’t that the whole concept of soaking up pressure and punishing a team when they least expect it?

    1) Because they didn’t have any of those last season did they…
