However, it's totally beyond me that someone who merely kicks around a football all week can afford to give away a sum of money that 99% of the world's population could only dream of earning in a lifetime. It seems to me that it's the poor sods who now have to pay more for their fizzy pop because Didier has been paid a fortune to promote it, and those who pay to watch football either at the grounds or via Sky who have actually given this money to charity. Why on earth do we pay these sportsmen such grotesque salaries that they can be so philanthropic in the first place? Well done to Mr Drogba, this is truly a heartwarming story.
