Had they gone through, they would have been as mediocre as always and people would have said "can anyone play football there ?" and what happened to their star players. This way they get to moan and bitch about 'how it could have been'. Let's face it, NO ONE wants to see the irish in the WC except the irish. We are not losing a great football nation or one that offers a few great talents. There are now 8 new crappy teams in the WC (both Koreas!!), so I dont think one more would have made a better show. This is the best thing that could have happned to the irish.
