A player wanting to be remembered is not arrogance and is not exactly breaking news

Whether Poof-naldo is saying it to keep the camera’s focus or because he’s deluded enough to believe it (I think it’s both), he is also courting derision.

If Messi had said it, because I’ve seen at least flashes and because he can’t escape the association to the cheating swamp rat, I’d give him the benefit of the doubt to see if he could make good.

Poof-naldo has done nothing at the international level. The hard fact of life is that, in the WC and Euro, he’s up against opposition with far more to play for than creaky EPL defenders, whom he rounded with ease and regularity.

He has consistently shown himself to favor the path of least resistance over getting down for his crown.

Can anyone objectively say that, in a big match, an in-his-prime Desailly (or the like) wouldn’t have put Poof-naldo in his pocket?

The cheating swamp rat got down for the crown; I won’t deny him that. To note a few of the my personal favorites, van Basten, Gullit, Maldini, Zico (add your own) all got down for the crown. Poof-naldo can’t (won’t) even get on the same page with them. He’ll have more than enough to do to pass Fat-naldo (who didn’t get down for the crown).

I have never been a fan of the guy. never disliked him just never been a fan. but when he comes out with comments like that and is still criticised, I am beginning to think his fans are right and that people who don’t like him put him down, no matter what he says. guarantee if another player had said that, you wouldn’t have said anything.

I think its refreshing to see a player (who has already achieved it all bar a world cup) so ambitious instead of sitting on his laurels and happy to pick up their pay check every week.
