Weekend Round Up

Forlan to Everton, Vieira to Chelsea, the new Drogba…

Another one for Arsene?

Whilst Robert Green was busily puking in the area whilst getting royally thumped by United, and big names – Lampsie, Fabs and Def-Def – were making an equal stink from the penalty spot, important sports journalists were frantically searching for transfer rumours. Here’s what we gathered from the weekend’s news…

According to the News of the World, Wolfsburg’s Arsenal transfer target, Edin Dzeko, is also on the receiving end of some very inquisitive looks from the men who run things at Man United. They may yet step in and urinate on Wenger’s chips with a £15 million bid in January.

David Moyes has been overheard making his feelings known about a certain ex-Man United striker, known only as Diego Forlan.

“If he was interested I would give him a home, yes.”

And Chelsea – regardless that Ancelotti has insisted that there will be no Christmas shopping spree – are linked with moves for Patrick Vieira and Luis Fabiano. The former being viewed as perfect cover for Essien and John Obi Mikel during the African Cup of Nations.

The Mail of Sunday also report more Chelsea transfer activity, with 19-year-old Lyon midfielder Miralem Pjanic rumoured to be tightening boardroom trousers at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, The Sunday Express have been flogging the old Anton-Ferdinand-to-Spurs line, whilst the rather more sophisticated pipe smokers at The Sunday Times have another name for the long list of strikers who may or may not bail Arsenal out this year: Romelu Lukaku, a 16-year-old playing for Anderlecht.

Apparently he’s the new Drogba. Here’s a clip of the young man in action…

    If Romelu Lukaku is 16, I’m a monkey’s uncle!
He looks far too confident to be a 16 year old scoring goals in his first year of senior football and judging by the clip, looks old enough to be Drogba.
Bring on ye old faithful bone marrow scanner I say… surely this dude’s papers were thrown overboard or lost at some border crossing!

@Part-time Pundit, should maybe do some research first before making such claims? He was born in Antwerp, that’s right in Belgium. And he has lived there ever since, making it absolutely impossible that he is anything other than his official age.
