Striker Crisis

Which striker should Wenger go for in the transfer window?

Hey Arsene, what about this guy?

Bojan Krkic

There has been much speculation over the last week or so about who Arsene Wenger should buy in the January window to plug the almighty gap in the Arsenal attack. A gap which began as a humble everyday manhole when Adebayor trotted up North, but now rather resembles a deep terrifying chasm with van Persie out.

Arshavin did a good job at the weekend, but pointed out to the Russian press:

“I can’t say that centre forward is my position, I am more of a second striker.”

Wise words indeed. He’s right. Already various contenders have been featured on The SpoilerMarouane Chamakh, Mario Balotelli, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Edin Dzeko, Andre-Pierre Gignac, Romelu Lukaku.

And now, the news from the Daily Star is that Wenger might consider a move for Barcelona’s 19-year-old striker, Bojan Krkic.

Plus there’s always the should-be-England man Bobby Zamora? Or the Stoke troublemaker, James Beattie?

But who do YOU think Wenger should go for in the New Year? Let us know with a vote and a comment.

Given our injury list, we need an “All Of The Above” option.

    Gignac, Dzeko, even bloody pavluchenko.
We need someone who can hold up the ball and make chances. Crouch,Drogba,Anelka,Bendtner,Zamora can all do this.
Dont get bojan… he is talented but just look at the other so-called talented player who was sold.
Dos santos was supposed to be the next ronaldinho. If a player aint good enough to play in spain then he aint got no chnane over here.

Carlton Cole from West Ham would be a good signing he is very strong on the ball and not easly pushed off, and his ball control is also very good unlike Walcott

zamora. are you mad. He’s finishing is poor at best. We need a player who will finish the chances we feed him.

Zamora’s one strong guy so i’ll take him.

I want to know why we get so many injuries. I feel that in training all we do is practice one-twos and possesion play. On match day i see most arsenal players play dangerously meaning that they invite challenges. There are two players more than most that does this and they are walcott and RVP. Next time either plays just watch them. Its no wonder they get injured all the time. They both have to change the way they play or they will always get injured through tackling. oh yeah.. wilshere also plays a similar way.
i hope i am wrong but just watch tomorrow in the Champions League how many times he gets kicked…

Couldn’t you at least be arsed to list strikers who fit Wenger’s criteria that they aren’t cup-tied in the Champions League?

Stefan Kießling, Eren Derdiyok, and Kevin Kuranyi, Carlton Cole, Hugo Rodallega, and Oscar Tacuara Cardozo would be on my list.

    So far!

Gignac all day long and i will tell you why… We have been screaming out for a guy like this for years, someone who will bully deffenders hold up the ball and shoot from anywhere, this guy is a tank and would add a much needed strength size to a team of small light footed passers, he would be fantastic in an Arsenal shirt

@Dan, they invite dangerous play? Isn’t that like telling the abused wife it’s her fault for not knowing when to keep her mouth shut?

no i think we need a player like lukaku who can finish well and also we can count on them when its about the height, it would be good if we would have a player with his tallnes even though arsene has bendtner he is lazy and cannot do anything, he does not have strength, lukaku is strong and very tall, he has finishes, and he is still young, arsene would sell him at a very high price, and we could buy him at a bargain price, gignac also a good buy he is strong and also cheap, and he also got some qualities

we need the height of the players arsenal is too small, each player in the front is short, only van persie not and bendtner, bendtner is weak and van persie gets injuries, so lets remain at lukaku
