Hughes wasn’t management material, says Ferguson…

Ahh, the good old days!

Ferguson and Hughes

Mark Hughes must have witnessed a fair few Ferguson mind games during his playing days, and it seems that the kindly Scotsman hasn’t forgotten how to put the wind up his former student. As reported in today’s Telegraph, Ferguson said this:

“It can be difficult to pinpoint who would make it as a manager. For instance, nobody here thought Mark Hughes would become a manager, never in a million years… “

The young Jedi will, of course, get his chance to throw eggs on Ferguson’s Yoda face in the Carling Cup semi-final on January 4th.

In other Manchester United-related news, Zoran Tosic is keen to prove to his manager that he’s got what it takes.

“If I can keep playing well and scoring for the reserves, then hopefully that will help me break into the first team.”

And the dream of first team football could well come true in January. Although perhaps not at Man United.

Over in Liverpool, Aquilani will be crossing his fingers ever so tightly in the build up to the weekend’s game against Arsenal. He sent this coded message to Rafa Benitez, via the team’s official site:

“I hope I can play against Arsenal.”

Don’t get me wrong… I admire Fergie’s accomplishments. But sometimes he needs to shut his gob.

sounds like an honest statement to me josie, dont see whats wrong with it, dont think anyone in the country seen mark hughes becoming a manager when he was a player, and dont lie and say you did.

Whether or not Hughes is/was/never was management material is not my point. It’s just that Fergie sometimes stirs the pot when it is not needed.
