More potential woes for Rafa
“I hate you”
Thus far, the Hicks and Gillette rift has worked fairly well for Benitez, as he has seemingly kept both of the coin-eyed maniacs in his back pocket. So the Spaniard might be a trifle rocked by news that the pair are looking for a new face to sit in seething silence with them in the Anfield boardroom.
A face that might be slightly less understanding when it comes to Liverpool not winning things.
The word from the Telegraph is that the Liverpool owners are looking for another investor to come in sharpish to inject around £125 million into the club, for a decent stake in proceedings.
Gillett has already flogged his ice hockey franchise, Montreal Canadiens, to eat into various family debts, so the hope is that the money will be used solely on Liverpool business – both to tackle the club’s £240 million debt, and perhaps even start work on a glitzy new stadium.
All pretty good business news.
Or is it, Rafa?
