Ladies, what’s all this “fuzza fuzza” about the beginning of the decades?

By all means…let’s all settle this matter by putting some loveable female specimens into the mud, one with the nametag “Tim’s Point”, another with “Ski’s Point” and let lady luck decide who’s right in the old days’ fashion…rubbing each other’s boobies.

Ski, good points and exactly the reason why I was joking around. Technically, the centuries and decades start on the 1, but convention dictates exactly what you have pointed out.

I just thought it was funny to look at Arsenal’s 2001 team, which was, as a Goonah, one of the worst.

tim, i don’t want to contradict you, but the last line of the wikipedia article you mention states “This is similar to the English decade names (1980s = the years 1980–1989).”

which would mean the decade started in 2000. otherwise you would be saying 2000 os part of the nineties. The article starts by saying a century would finish at the end of the 2000 but the article is about first team of the decade not century.

Sorry to be pedantic, but saying the 70′s did not start till 71 etc, is just wrong.

Well as ahuge fan of the site, I thought it was pretty clear that I was joking around but now this is serious!

Decades and Milleniums do not start on the Zero, this is a misconception.

I love to be pedantic so I’m going to point out that the decades actually start on the 1 and not the zero.

That means the actual Arsenal squad of the new century was:

Manninger, Dixon, Silvinho, Stepanovs, Grimandi, Vivas, Vieira, Parlour, Ljungberg, Pires, Kanu.

Subs: Malz, Danilevicius, Lukic, Cole, Halls.

And they lost 1-0 to… Charlton.

January 1, 2001.

Come to think of it, I prefer your team to the one which lost to Charlton.
