By the Way:

Assou-Ekkotto has been better than ashley Cole this season so far.

Drogba should be there in place of Rooney.

I’d also say Nasri or Arshavin should be in there instead of Song. Arshavin is an attacking midfielder playing upfront and is still banging them in.

By the way, Sorensen has actually had a better season than Given. Given has probably saved more but Sorensen concedes less. It’s all divisible by the “Joleon factor” though.

The two mids and the two centerbacks speak to form over quality…it seems like the last couple of weeks determined those selections! They are questionable at best! We will see by the end of March how wrong those 4 choices are…with the rest of the squad fair, but just a matter of opinion. Consistency and impact when it matters will be evident when by March the likes of Lamps, Gerrard, Terry, Vidic (maybe even Rio will smarten up?) will dominate again.

Drogba HAS to be in this team?! Rooney is only in this team as he is English, he started the season very well but has fallen away in the recent weeks…as usual though, not a word is said about his poor form – as he is England’s saviour and can ‘do no wrong’.

Great comments all, thank you. And some good cases put forward. The Drogba ommision seems to be grating, and he was hard to leave out. But Defoe was impossible to ignore, and Rooney seems to be carrying Man United slightly more than Drog is carrying Chelsea… although it’s a very close call. As for Giggs, I’m pretty sure most would go for his fellow Welshman at the moment… definitely.
