Zidane glad that he was sent off in the World Cup, actually
Buffon tells tales, Zidane is pleased about that
Guilt can destroy a man. Look at Judas. If the movie Jesus Christ Superstar is to be taken as gospel, then he was swinging by the neck only a couple of songs after handing Jesus into the biblical equivalent of the feds.
He couldn’t live with himself.
Which leads rather messily onto Zinedine Zidane, who has been quoted in today’s Telegraph as actually being rather relieved that he got his marching orders after slamming his rock-like head into Marco Materazzi during the World Cup final.
“It’s good that Buffon signalled what I had done to the referee because it was not pretty”
“I don’t know how I could have lived with it had France become world champions and I had stayed on the pitch.”
With that, much coughing of the name “Thierry Henry” presumably ensued. Hence the great Z-Man said this:
“I’m certain Henry is not proud of his gesture.”
